WoW Battlegrounds next patch

Kalgan, one of the lead designers, stated in a Honor System Q&A thread that Battlegrounds will be available in the next patch.

We feel the largest contributing factor in the reduction to the latency in these hotspots is the fact that Battlegrounds will be ready for release next patch! Yes, that's right, I said next patch, and yes, I said Battlegrounds...plural! The implementation of Battlegrounds will draw players away from towns and into instanced environments designed for either small-scale or epic battles between evenly matched teams (we?ll be sure to get you more information soon about how the instancing works). With many players taking their PvP action into battlegrounds (due to both the fun-factor and the contribution points for completing objectives), we expect that combat in the outdoor world will be of a much more manageable size.

Ugh, why even put in PvE content and levels? The game was great until the HS went in, now every server is a PvP server... they really need some strictly PvE servers, I've asked on the official boards and a lot of people feel like I do.

Gurck you're gonna have to explain this to me again. How does the HS make pve servers pvp? I mean, you still have the choice right??

Mostly its the continual Ganking of the quest giving NPC's/fly route masters in the contested areas and the horrendous lag that the RAIDS create that I really dislike about the new patch. The lag was bad enough before the patch, now it's damn near unplayable in some areas. The really silly thing is I feel this patch is Blizzards soloution for all the lvl 60's with nothing to do because they have not delivered Battlegrounds as promised at time of launch. It's really hard to get a group together to quest now, shame.

I haven't experienced any problems getting a group on our medium population PvE server. And I enjoy being able to toggle on my PvP flag every once in a while as I trapse across the countryside.

Although, I can tell you, visiting Mauradon flagged will get you ganked quick.

Yeah, I've heard a lot of people are upset about that too. At 60 it's rare I complete a quest anymore, so dead quest NPCs don't affect me - it's more the fact that everybody's too busy PvPing to group or raid anything. On the rare occasion we do get something going, we have to outsource, as there aren't enough guildies willing to PvE. We know some cool people outside of our guild who like to do stuff with us, but they generally aren't enough and we end up scraping the bottom of the barrel. Even the people who can type without throwing u's, ur's, and ne1's all over the place (which by itself is more than bad enough) are gear-limited. I hate to get on anyone's case for gear; obviously they want to upgrade - and if it were just a few recruits it'd be a lot easier - but when the majority of the raid, including the MT and his healer, have quest & AH gear at 60 (or worse, 56, 57, etc), it makes for a tough experience, usually with at least a few wipes. If you want to PvP, fine - I can even understand people who want to do so with honor choosing PvE servers to avoid the gankfests - what's needed are strictly PvE servers. As I've said, a lot of people feel as I do; the problem is we're spread across all the realms.

Ah...seems to me that will quieten down once the novelty wears off, but then I could be wrong. I find it difficult to believe all the people I knew on my pve suddenly would rather pvp. If they are, it's maybe because they're bored to tears farming dungeons. That I can understand

It sounds like alot of complaining going on. If you don't want to PvP, then stay on your PvE server and don't attack anyone on the opposite side, or don't heal or help anyone who is PvP'ing on that PvE server and you won't have to worry about going PvP.

The lag is pretty bad, and the new patch has still got a few bugs to be worked out such as things missing or strange environment anomalies but there's finally something new to do now for the lvl 60's that don't do questing. I can't wait til they open up the level cap with an expansion too, but I don't think that will happen until later in the summer or fall at the earliest.

Well, we're both guessing here, so while I hope you're right, I think that - especially with Battlegrounds coming out and Blizzard's apprent ~90% focus on PvP - it will stay the same or get worse. '90% focus on PvP' statement is due to the last patch introducing so many new bugs to the PvE game - Rend's corpse now sometimes despawns upon his death in UBRS, the 'in-combat' bug in Stratholme is now 10 times worse, etc., and instead of worrying about it they're doing Battlegrounds :roll:

I don't think they are doing battlegrounds "instead of" bug fixes in the literal sense. From what blizz has said, they have separate developers working on each. But in reality that makes no sense to me and I think they are lying. Why would you have one group of developers write the initial code then assign completely different people to fixing bugs? I guess it's possible but it seems kind of strange to me to do things in this manner. The way it normally works is you write some code and you are the guy who fixes it, because that way you don't incur the cost of having to have someone who has never looked at the code learn it well enough to fix the bug.

Regardless, just because that's the way it is now doesn't mean that's the way it should be...

great, maybe incidents like what just happened to me will stop happening... i'm soloing two mobs that are each 2 lvls higher than me, both are almost dead, my pet is almost dead, I'm almost dead, but I think i'll be able to finish them off...

lvl 60 mage rides by, dismounts, fireball's me, i die, he blinks away, then rides off... wow look at all that HONOR!!

And guess where the PvPers are going to go when Battlegrounds are released? BG is the best place to get honor.

You should try improving your reasoning skills. Implementing battlegrounds only helps to alleviate the gankfest "problem". People who knowingly rolled on a PVP server have no right to complain in the first place. They knew what they were getting into. Introducing limited video cards as rewards isn't going to make anything "worse". People were already out ganking in full force to gain access to better armor / weapons. Do cry more.

In addition, if you would read the forums, you would realize that the Honor System is affecting PvE servers as well as PvP servers (hence my mention of people no longer "playing the game").

Introducing BGs on all servers will help to alleviate congestion in areas such as Hillsbard.
People are "leaving" because of a few days of PvP? Too bad for them. I hope they enjoy EQ2 /laugh.

So again, why do you continue to moan and cry when it is obvious BGs will reduce congestion? The video cards aren't even any issue since people are already pvp'ing to gain access to better gear.

edit: You brought up the video cards in a BGs post. It's your own fault if you don't realize BGs will help solve the issue.

isnt the whole point of the game about the fight between horde and alliance? that would seem to suggest a focus on pvp not pve.
while I appreciate it means getting groups together to get uber items to sell or use is going to be difficult now, why not settle for much less powerful equipment (after all you dont need the best equipment to do well in pvp) or rise up in the pvp ranks and get some that way.
it shouldnt stop you from lvling up maybe make it a bit slower but you will still hit 60 at some point.
