Horde soloing is definately owned by the Hunter and Shaman. Shaman is nice because it gets spirit of the wolf at level 20 and a 40% run buff is worth a ton when you're running around alone.
Shamans do awful dps, solo leveling will take a while. As suggested, hunters & warlocks are good, fun solo classes. I also found my rogue to be.
Depends on the spec. I turned out pretty nice DPS on my shaman, and it was sustained DPS, not burst, which is more important for soloing. Melee spec, saving mana for buffs, healing in between pulls, and timing the casts to be efficient with the timer, I could kill nonstop. Anything that kills individual mobs faster---other than a hunter---has more downtime, so it evens out.
When it comes to leveling, if you're *only* grinding mobs, you're screwing up. Grind mobs that are quest-related, or you shouldn't be grinding at all.
Hunter is easily better, of course.
