WRT54G and VPN setup help.

Hi everyone,

I manage to load my WRT54G v3 with DD WRT v23 firmware. I know there are a lot of settings that needs to be set to make the network secure, but I'm lost as all the terms used in router settings are like foreign language to me. So please help me.

1) Is there a place out there that has information I could use to setup a secure lan/wan network at home?

2) I have read that having software vpn server/client will make everything slow. Is it possible to have my router act as an VPN server? Would that decrease the router's performance in anyways?

It doesn't have instruction to setup the VPN server. It also doesn't mention if running the server would or wouldn't hog up all the resources.
