WTF Microsoft?

So I call in to request a repair on my 360 and to cancel my live account, the service rep on the other end tells me they can not do repair requests or account changes right now because of "routine system upgrade/maintanence, they say I can call back in two hours. I tell them I am on the west coast and that according to the hours of operation they will be closed in two hours, she tells me to call back tomorrow. WTF? The hours of operation of from 6am to 10pm for pacific time folks. Are you tell me they couldn't wait two hours and just do the upgrades when they closed for the night? BIG WTF.:|

The sooner you realize you are talking to a CSR that makes 5 bucks an hour, the better off you will be. From the CSRs perspective, "the system" will be down and as such is a good excuse to blow off a customer. It's not their fault, "the system" is down.

Exactly... I used to pull stuff like that when people would come in to our restaurant 5 minutes before we closed. Oops, already put the chemical cleaner on the grill...

Having worked in tech support when "the system" is down there really isn't anything they can do about it except be abused. It's possible that he system was down for some other reason too and obviously the CSR isn't going to say "Sorry, the system is down because someone screwed something up."

They usually send you a free month of Xbox live when you get the console back. I don't know if that makes you feel any better.

It wasn't really free since it took about a month to get my xbox back and I had paid for Live service during that period.

exactly and i'm sure vague terms are used for people who have no clue of what goes on behind the scenes anyway, most people care for uptimes and not thorough explanaitions of every technology lingo.
