he just played the race card regarding the mnf opening. he said something like it he was offended and felt the clip was racially insensitive (or something).

"To me that's the first thing I thought of as an African-American," Dungy said Wednesday.

"I think it's stereotypical in looking at the players, and on the heels of the Kobe Bryant incident I think it's very insensitive. I don't think that they would have had Bill Parcells or Andy Reid or one of the owners involved in that," he added, a reference to the coaches in the game.

perhaps not old bags like parcells or reid, but if the giants were playing on monday night, i bet shockey be used.

dungy is just a dumbass if he thinks that clip was meant to in some way exploit black atheletes. it has nothing to do with race, yet he pulls the race card. like i said before, no doubt in my mind shockey would be in TO's place if the giants were playing say... the jets on mnf.

no, this is one incident where dungy might be wrong. other than that, Dungy is one of the most nicest people you'll find. he is one of the more respected coaches in the nfl

It only takes a few people to become offended like that in order to cause a ruckus. Most people who watch MNF are adult males, and I'd think that scene would barely qualify the need for PG13 these days. I guess the only place people could have a legit complaint would be the west coast and maybe MST, where the game is on before prime time. IF the game were shown in primetime across the nation then I don't think we'd be hearing as much lash back, because as an adult I actually found the skit kind of funny. And then there was the fact that it was telling us the show was garbage (in a sarcastic way) and instead watch football because its so much better.

"That athletes are sexual predators and that that stuff is more important than what's going on on the field. That a guy was more concerned with that than the game, that's a terrible message to send," Dungy said. "I'm particularly sensitive to that. It could have been any player and I would have been outraged, but being an African-American, it particularly hurt me."

It plays to the stereotype of black men as sexual predators who have sex with easy white women. It was the basis for the majority of the lynchings during the 20th century, when black males would be accused of making attempts of southern white females and consequencially be found beaten and dead soon thereafter.
