Great, MS & Sony fanboys have been chomping at the bit for some bad news to come out for Nintendo... now we've got a misleading title & first post to supply them with misinformed data to spread to their ilk.

I'd like to see a healthy competition between all three companies (best for us consumers), but I really dislike the new BD & HD format encryptions, so for that reason I hope the Playstation 3 with Blu-Ray is less successful.

anyone who believes the Wii will be $322 in the US is a fvcking moron. It has been stated probabl 1000 times officially by Nintendo that the Wii will be under $250 ...

The $170 is based on the exchange rate, which is also wishful thinking.

Reggie said less than $250. And we ALL know that "less than $250" is doubletalk for 249.99. If it was going to cost 199.99, he would have said less than $200.

So there you have it. $249.99.

Cool, I can still get the Wii console for about $250. I just bet that it $322 price tag for the console is just a rumor going around.

So? Like there's going to be any decent games out for it before it drops to below $250 anyway?
Zelda
Metroid
CoD3
Rayman
FF:CC
Metal Slug Anthology
Red Steel
Super Monkey Ball
Excite Truck
Trauma Center
Far Cry

Most of these sound better than most games already out for 360.

I'm anxiously awaiting the new Crystal Chronicles... we have to find a fourth player, though.

So I guess this issue of "is it $250 or $322" is unimportant to me.

Is it crowded in that small mind?

I'm small minded because I don't like one-handed controllers? Hmmm... thanks for clearing that up! I was sure confused for a while.

you realize that they are releasing a shell for the wiimote so you can play with a traditional controller rite?

Also have to consider that the $322 price includes the ass-load of tax the Brits and Euros have to pay.

Lol, this thread reads exactly like every person whose wanted to take a stab at the Wii but hasn't had material until now. It's almost sad how transparent it is. Even though the misinformation was fixed within a few posts, streams of replies still came in slamming it. Oh and the Xbox360 is nowhere near $322.

360 Core - $300
360 Premium - $400 (but can be had for $350 and less with deal hunting)

And it's also got ports on top for GC controllers.

Bunch of whiners. I'd gladly pay $350 for it, Nintendo has always put quality first in their consoles and games, so it's guaranteed that there's going to be some really nice games out at launch. Compared to the $600 for the PS3, and the probable lack of any good games at launch, I think it's a no-brainer.

Plus, I'm betting that Nintendo has their online legacy game system up and running before Christmas, with a few hundred games available for download.

Well I don't think they had decided the price internally yet so I think at that point $199 was still a possibility, but I agree that the most likely case is that it'll be $249.

Of course not, you are small minded because the thing that caused you to lose interest was the name change. WTF cares what they call it? They could call it the 'Penis' and it would still play games the same way.

Nintendo 64 was $249 @ launch, however compared to its competition it was the "PS3" of its day.

Given the hardware in the Wii, there is very little reason for Nintendo to charge more than they did for GC, which was indeed $199. They'll easily recoup losses, if any, with software sales.

I think he was referring to your comment about the name change... which was really a blatant lie. Obviously you weren't interested in it before the name change either.

Edit: Now it's your turn to make up some BS about how it wasn't just the name change that changed your mind

Nintendo 64 was $199. I bought one on launch day.
My kids now play it. It was a great system.

My local stores must have collectively price gouged. No matter, I never got one until they came down to $149 anyways. Of course there really wasn't much of an internet for us to spaz out over price rumors back then...

Is it possible they had two packages, one with a game and one without?

They've known for quite some time what they were gonna charge for it, they said so themselves. Theyre just waiting to drop a bombshell...its good marketing.

We've known X360 was $399 for a while, since it's been out. Sony HAD to drop their $600 bomb early to give people a time to adjust to it. Nintendo didnt say anything because they were satisfied saying we'll be cheaper than everyone, and let that $600 mess soak, while dropping hints every now and then.

Maybe $229. Possibly $199. Most likely $249. Almost definitely coming out around thanksgiving, like they usually do. Probably right before Sony, to steal their thunder, whatever little they have left.

Nope, definitely just the system. But who knows, I'm just remembering prices I saw advertised in flyers and in store before the launch, I was 11-12 back then and could in no way afford it yet on my own. So I never got it at launch nor would my parents have.

Games such as Turok would also go for $75...
