I think this is a re-post. Essetially. this article is saying that R420 loses about 20% of it performance in UT2003 when its triliniear optimizations are disabled by applying a registry hack that forces true triliinear in the latest beta drivers.

As far as I know, this has not been confirmed by other testers, nor has there been any tests conducted on other games.

If you can read through all the thread crap, GeneralGrievous did a little true tri / try testing. Seems as though he only got around a 10% loss in performance in UT2k4. Pulled from

I got the registry hack working now.

Brilinear
UT2k4 benchmark: Deathmatch, Ice Tomb, 15 bots. 1600x1200 4x/16x
Minimum FPS: 58
Average FPS: 76

Triliear
Minimum FPS: 55
Average FPS: 68

I still can't find any image differences though.
