WTK" Oc dell laptop cpu / gpu

Ok i just got a dell 9400. I want to OC the cpu and gpu, wat is the bets way to do this sicne i cant do it in the bios. I want to atleast get up to 2.5 ghz.

I have a Intel Core Duo T2400 Yohan running at 1.83 GHZ.

ive tried one programs but it difnt show the cpou properly due to me not knowing wat motherboard i have.

also wat is the max speed a Go 7900GTX should be.

I oced it to 600 mhz core and 680 mhz memory but i see the cards on the net seem to say 1.6 ghz

1) OCing a laptop is not always the best idea. Laptops do not have the same caliber of cooling that desktops have and you'll probably, if not definitely, have heat problems. My laptop at stock runs at 50C. Granted the Thermal Cut-off is at 100C, a virus scan puts temps upwards toward 65-70C.

2). The 1.6GHz (1600MHz) rating for memory you find around is the DDR clock speed. The actual clock speed is 800MHz. 800*2=1600.

also note the laptop i have is the centrino duo so i have alot less heat to deal with on my yohan chip

it is Yonah, core2duo is supposed to be slightly better in power comsumption, Dell has a better cooling system than HP compaq, therefore the temperature will be less on Dell.

try this, but my advice is do no attempt to overclock, try to undervolt instead, will make your laptop run cooler, i see no reason to overclock 1.83 GHz Yonah since it is already fast, if your game is already running a minimum of 30+ fps, why overclock to get extra frame, its not like your eyes is gonna notice it, and it is a total waste of energy. I donno why ppl want 100+ fps, but of course for tasks like video encoding, overclocking the cpu will reduce the encoding time

well certain games i need more fps. i tried clockgen but i didnt know my motherboard version

sorry to say, they are starting to say the human eye can tell in upwards of 60. i personally CAN tell the differenct between 30 and 60fps. its a whole lot smoother. and they are starting to believe that people can see in excess of 100fps(that is, if your refresh rate is up to that).

It looks like you are comparing your GPU clock speed to the desktop version. (not the same)
I will say it again, go to Notebook Forums they are the notebook people. (as here is mainly desktop folks)

You will be able to compare your GPU clocks with others there (by searching). You basically keep raising your clocks untill you artifact/run into heat problems. And you cannot overclock your CPU. Only way to "overclock" would be buying a 533mhz FSB CPU and pin-mod it to 667mhz. Other than that you cannot overclock like a desktop (thank dell). There is one C2D chip dell offers for the m1710 that does allow overclocking but that is another story.

Truenofan i might agree with what you say becoz videos are normally 23.976 but they are videos, and have watermarks or something to smooth the motion but the games are 3D. But with a laptop, you can run a game at 30fps, i think it is quite good, better than overclocking bcoz it might burn the laptop, laptop doesn't have good heat dissipation as a desktop

i concur with the idea of, 30fps is good on a laptop, and definitly on the heat issue, thats why im going with a 15.4 lappy, decent proc, and video card, im lookin for good portability, with good stationary use as well. overclocking a laptop is just not a good idea, the battery life is shortend and heat is increased considerably because cooling most of the time, is sufficient just enough for stock use as it is. dont bother trying to squeeze the most out of a laptop because its a fruitless effort.

um....no, if your going for a desktop replacement, you should have gone with a larger, and better laptop with better cooling, check your stock temps under load before you go and overclock your laptop, and cause it to die sooner. i cant recall who makes it, its either dell or asus, they have a laptop with the cooler sticking out the back with 3-4 small fans on it, something of that level would support additional clock speeds over stock, but unless you have something like that system, i wouldnt suggest overclocking your system.

if you want to overclock a laptop processor with a locked bios you will need to pinmod. You can find information about that in Notebookforums.com as stated.

If you wish to overclock the video card, you are going to need to download the unlocked bios and flash it. If you don't, you will not be able to change the frequencies (similar to your processor). And as far as I know, nobody has been successful in unlocking a dell bios.

Your memory says 680mhz but it is running at 1360 effectively since it is DDR
