If it's not from Franklin county, I won't drink it.
An Ancient Age fan?

Or perhaps:
Buffalo Float – The grown up Root Beer Float!

  • 2 oz Buffalo Trace Distillery Bourbon Cream
  • 4 oz root beer
Combine in glass and serve.
For extra richness, pour over 1 scoop vanilla ice-cream.

You can make as many jokes about Russia and WWIII.
But fact is: if we get another world-war, it will be started by the USA. Or one of its dopey allies like Turkey or Saudi-Arabia or Ukraine.

Ukraine?

Really?

Could you maybe explain that scenario? Without links to RT, please.

Vodka is supposed to be flavorless, which is why it's interchangeable. But, there absolutely is a significant difference between cheap vodka and good vodka. Good vodka doesn't fuck you over by morning.

My friends once were making white russians with cheap vodka and the milk instantly began curdling

Pretty much this. Vodka is supposed to be alcohol and water. Shit vodka is full of all kinds of impurities and good vodka has way less.

Reasonably priced, high quality and (for me) locally made.
And bursting with all the goodness of, um, potatoes . . .

Friends don't let friends drink vodka. Real liquor can be easily identified by the fact that it can be happily consumed neat, for pure pleasure, without intention to get wasted.

Tito's is a great story though.

Well, at least maybe Russia will have enough surplus vodka laying around the guys on their jet crews won't have to drink all the brake fluid that had alcohol in it for anti freeze like in the 80's.

I made this as a semi-serious thread, but i'm genuinely curious now, as someone who has never drank Vodka before, what is the easiest to start with?

Any of the ones mentioned in this thread will be easy, if by easy you mean "doesn't taste like shit." Belvedere has almost no taste at all. Just stay away from the bottom shelf shit and you'll be fine.

Don't get me wrong, I prefer whisk(e)y, but my wife prefers mixed drinks with vodka, so I end up buying both.

Just an aside, Tito's is made with corn.

Did not know that.

It's a constant. I fly Alaskan Airlines most of the time, all they have is Jack and Crown. I'll drink Crown before I'll touch Jack. There's a lot of ignorance about whiskey.
That's a taste preference though. I prefer Crown myself, of the two, but Jack is a pure corn-heavy sour mash whereas Crown is a pseudo-bourbon blend. I can see stocking Crown and Jack if you're only stocking two whiskies - they ARE the two best-selling whiskies in America. If one is drinking it neat, one drinks Crown; if one is drinking it in Coke, one drinks Jack. And if one is drinking single malt, well, one needs a better airline.

Incidentally Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye was named 2016 Whiskey of the Year by Jim Murray's Whiskey Bible*, so clearly Crown is nothing to disdain. That beat out ALL the Scotch single malts.

* Apologies to any Baptist heads that exploded from reading "Whiskey Bible".
