The X box will prevail the reason the DC failed was because people do not like sega. I have a DC still play it and I think it had the best games of any system to date. I have a PS2 as well and the games are not there yet. Oh well only time will tell.

No one mentioned that AMD is going to be supplying XBox with parts either, I dont think that theyll screw themselves out of their business, which is booming for them, and thankfully so. I also think that well have to wait and see just how good the Xbox performs, seems ppl are counting thier chicks..

I must disagree. After the novelty of your first 1 or 2 off these very expensive games wears off it's off to find other entertainment. That plus the horrid communities in the popular online games makes me think they won't ever take over.

Hundreds of people playing the same game can be more fun but the expense and frustration factors (pkers, twits, lag, etc.) will keep this market limited.

Just think of the possibilities when the first massively online Quake-type game comes out. War on a new level, like red alert except every person in the game is driving his own tank or is just one of the marines. massively multiplayer can encompass any genre easily and it most likely will. Yes the crowds are a little childish now, but as the game makers learn the childish ways they learn how to tailor the games away from that. An example: Dawn is an mmorpg where you are only given 1 death, thats right, death means death means death. Think about being a PK'r with 1 life to live and no friends. www.glitchless.com if you want to read how they plan to make it even harder for people to play 'antisocially. Reproduction instead of spawning, all kinds of interesting ideas. Trust me, mmorpg isn't just a phase or a fad. Recreating working and thriving worlds is the most powerful thing a game can do.
