X-Box or Gamecube?

Which one? I need to buy one or the other for my sons birthday. Whats your advice?

for younger kids id say gamecube because thats who most of the games are geared toward

from a 13 yr olds veiw.... x-box is much much better, plus you can play cd's and DVD's. gamecube cannot, my susin has gamecube i personally think it sucks.

He's going to be 8 years old. When my brother comes to visit he brings the X-box and my son loves to play Halo. But that?s just one game. Which one has a better choice of games.

for an 8 year old, you should no doubt get him a gamecube. other than halo i dont really know what other games he'll be able to play on the xbox.
gamecube is much more child friendly, hence it gets the stereotype of being a kiddie system.

If I were buying a new system now and didn't have one I would go with the Gamecube.

i think a kid would be better fitted for teh gamecube because if hes 8 i doubt he can grip the xbox contrls very well cuz its geared towared more adult players. and xbox also has a more adult oriented library. DOA, Halo, bla bla bla. while gamecube is all for the kids, pokemon, smash bros, super monkey ball

PS2. more games. pretty decent games!

but if it's for a younger person, Gamecube is by far the best investment! a lot more replay value for the kiddies

and then its got the new resident evil game and eternal darkness for the more "mature" (and i use that very loosely) tastes.

It depends what sort of games your son plays (and how old he is). Gamecube is definitely more kid-oriented.
If he already owns something like a Gameboy or a Gameboy Advance, you'll probably want to consider
Gamecube, as some games will interact with the GBA (if you buy an connector cable). Plus he's probably
already playing the types of games that are currently in release or will be released soon.

XBox can be used as a DVD player (with an extra kit) and is currently more well-suited to networked gaming.
Some XBox versions of games are slightly extended (extra levels) over their PS2 and Gamecube counterparts.

Be warned that very young kids might have trouble using the default XBox controller, which is definitely larger
than most controllers.

ask them. I'm sure they will enjoy whichever you get, but asking will be the best. Maybe buy them both, then when it comes time for presents tell him that he can only have one and to decide; return the other one. Or on his birthday, take him to the store and let him decide and get a couple games right away. This way you can get him what he wants. In my oppinion, I would get an xbox. I think that it would provide the best overall pleasure because it doesn't have all the kiddie stuff associated with it. At 8 years old, kids still like that stuff, but it's a good time to start pushing them into the real world

As long as you avoid M rated games, X-box is the best choice.

maybe for an 8 year old the GC would be the best choice

Yeah, Nintendo has the best games coming this year....I mean, Mario still kicks butt and Metriod is shaping up, the next
Zelda is not too far away....and I think Nintendo is has games for all ages which makes it a good investment.

its supposed to release something like another 200 games by christmas.. i'm sure plenty of htose will be aimed towards younger players.

plus it rocks!
