X-Fi install problems

The OEM X-Fi XtremeMusic I picked up off eBay didn't come with an install disc, so I had to dig around to find the download iso. Even after reading through a thread that told how to manually install each of the Audio Console nodes, I get an Error I-001 please contact support message (and posting this message on Creative's forums has got me nothing in response). I'm hoping the having a Volume Panel/Graphic equalizer will solve some of my issues with not getting any sound out of my mic. Has anyone heard of this issue and/or a resolution to it?

System setup:
AMD64 4000+
1GB Patriot DDR400
ATI Radeon X800 GTO 256mb
Creative X-Fi XtremeMusic
Enermax 535watt PSU
WinXP Pro SP2

I apologize if this is a dumb question but have you checked that the Mic volume in
the Windows control panel is not muted?

Dude, sorry about your problems... I just installed an OEM X-Fi ExtremeMusic in my rig, but it came with the drivers disc, and it all went well... maybe someone here closer to your location can mail you a copy or upload an ISO of their own physical CD and you could give that a try?
