Its just that, PR numbers.

- 38% faster in BF2
- 32% faster in Farcry
- 80% faster in FEAR

- 10% faster in HL2 (not 10% slower like Sassen's benchmarks showed)

I dont care about the 3dmark scores. HDR + AA is the thing that stands out most.

Might upgrade to an X1800, my 6600GT is choking under BF2.

I highly doubt the FEAR sp demo bench is that much better than the gtx. Its just ATI's exaggeration. nVidia or any company would do the same thing just so you guys dont shun my for being a fanboy.

I just have to laugh at this statement. Remind me again who has had super sampling for over a year and a half again? Remind me who introduced transparent antialiasing?

What you just said is exactly why it's probably accurate. They wouldn't come up with a way out number like that if it wasn't verifiable, cause they know people would be all over it.

FEAR is even more demanding. :Q I played the demo at 1024 X 768.

Am I the only one that while interested in the benchmark numbers am more interested in the image quality and the AVIVO features than anything else?

Lots of PR BS. Really nothing to see, gotta wait for the NDA's to lift and see the truth behind this thing.

In FEAR, I can't tell the diff with soft shadows and volumetric lights...even I can't tell a difference with med and high text.....still the game looks gorgeous w/ 1280x960 2 AA/8AF on med settings

Before you sing the praises of HDR+AA and tattoo an X1800XT logo to your butt, make sure you see what the performance penalty will be first. Oh yeah now that you mention HDR, remind me again who introduced FP 16 HDR?

You mean a year and a half later right? :roll: Like I said, you are going to look mighty foolish if your beloved ATi's AA+HDR solution ends up being a pretty slideshow. I wonder how much flip-flopping we'll be seeing from ATi fanboys in regards to AA+HDR performance? Will they criticize it as useless since it kills performance so much (like HDR did on 6800 cards) or will they pull a John Kerry and say it's the best thing since sliced bread?
