I will get my x1900xtx tommorow and what settings must be used? For example, does ATI still have the ATI hotkey poller and smartservices? should these two be disabled?

Also, how do i make sure that the card is performing at its rated speed in games?

If you want to oc, than yes. To check game performance just compare with review sites.

You do not need to reisntall the motherboard chipsets. Just do a clean install of the video drivers and you're set.

I just got my powercolor x1900xtx. ok i just installed net 1.1 then cat 6.3. I disabled Ati poller and smartservices. Then i ran 3dmark05 and got 9445? WTF? I got 10364 with the 7900 GTX. I also noticed that overdrive is not enabled. How do i enable it? Im guessing i scored low because the card is not running at full speed? Can someone tell me what is going on?

Of course i did DC cleaner after removing nvida drivers.

ok im a moron. disabling the smartsevice and poller was a bad idea. I enabled it again and i got 10607 in 3dmark05. That is a bit higher than my defective 7900 GTX

You should try out the Omega Drivers, I'm using them on my x1900xt and get about 12k on 3dmark05

I had the same issue, set AA to "application preference" in the ccc and turn it on in the in-game options.

Ill try that. One other thing i notice is that i see fain diagnol criscrosses moving across the screen. I did not see this with the nvidia 7800 gtx and 7900 gtx. How do i get rid of it? Its not artifacts. Its very barely visible diagnol lines but it is still annoying.

ok here are my thoughts on the powercolor x1900xtx.
1)The fps is very similar to my 7800 gtx 256mb, and 7900 gtx in bf2.
2)In CS:S i dont get dynamic shadows?
3)Shadows in bf2 look like crap compared to the geforce. Shadows are all pixelated
4)CCC kinda sucks. AA and AF sometimes dont work in bf2.
5)Suprisingly the card is not as loud as i thought it would be.
6)at least 3dmark05 is the highest of all 3 cards
7)I see very fain diagnol lines across my monitor. Did not have this with geforce
8)Im not sure if my money was well spent....
9)Thankfully no artifacts unlike the 7900 GTX

i think i learned my lesson. It is pointless to invest in a better video card. ATI, nvidia,... The two cards are the same in performance except that nvidia has better IQ.

yeah removed nvidia drivers, booted in safemode and ran dc cleaner. I think i would have been better off if i had just stayed with my 7800 gtx 256. The extra money did not change a damn thing besides 3dmark05.

Wow and whats with ATI's image quality? Actually its worse. Shadows have never looked more pixelated and blocky. Sigh... Im gonna have to waste more money shipping this powercolor 1900xtx back to newegg. I feel like crawling into a hole and dying lol.

I guess those benchmarks and ppl saying ****** deceived me. Im sure those benchies just fired up a single player game in bf2 and measured fps. I just did that and sure my fps was sky high in the 90s. But in actually online play with 64 players, fps was abyssmal in the 45s most of the time dropping down to 30s on some occasions. Even the mighty x1900xtx and 7900 GTX does not perform any better than my old 7800 gtx 256mb.

BF2 looks and performs much better w/ my X1900XTX then my old 7800GTX 512. You must have some settings off as already mentioned.

Might want to rethink that one.

IMO, I thought it was a well known fact that ATI's IQ was better than Nvidia's, especally the HQAF.

Edit: Also, try the WarCat drivers from Tweaksrus.

the ati is better in the IQ and I believe in the fps dept at least for BF2. I run all high settings w/ 6xAA at 1920x1440 on just one 1900xt at stock clocks and it runs Bf at 70-100fps all day.
