If I used a DVI-HDMI cable with a 1920x1200 monitor, would I be able to FX AR scale or 1:1 pixel map to 1080p and 720p? What would I do about sound though?

I was thinking about getting an X360 Arcade version for my B-day in time for summer to play Sonic4, and I don't have an HDTV because they all suck compared to my Apple Cinema LCD 24 in.


Finally, is the Jasper revision immune to the RRoD?

You're going to need to define "FX AR".

However, the 360 scaler can output in 1080p. If you want 1:1 mapping, that's a problem for your monitor to solve. As for audio, you can use the dedicated audio dongle or build your own.

No 360 revision is "immune" to the RROD. However, it seems clear that the latest 360s fail far less than the earlier ones.

I did the same thing on my Acer P243w screen, although it has a HDMI port, switching to DVI wouldnt casue problems. The image looked good on the screen. As for audio, your going to need that Optical thing that came with the Elite

and run normal RCA cables from that to whatever set of speakers you want.

Depending on when you got yours, you may want ot look at LG or Phillips LCD tv's (they make the Apple LCD's) I know LG makes a 42" with the same specs apple requires, just bigger. keep in mind 1920 pixles in 14" and 1920 pixles in 35" , the pixles are bigger.

I run my 360 and PS3 on a Samsung 57" LED DLP , sit back about 10 feet and there is no way i would sit at my 26" lcd monitor when i can sit on my couch. Of course if your sitting close the 24" would be the best. And we all like differnt things, so to each his own.


And as stated no 360 is immune. Local gamestop in town here says RROD has dropped to about half what it used to be (but is still more than 2X what the Wii Or PS3 is, on that note, he mentioned the PS3 rate rose with the slim (at least in his store)) Wii is still king (but I keep saying thats cuz they are only playe the first few months after being bought).

Phillips developed the tech (IPS) it was originaly S-IPS (currently panasonic is the only ones who use S-IPS), hitachi changed it around 07 to H-IPS (which apples (LG since you are talking H-IPS, LG makes those for apple) uses in the Panel you have). Currently the "new" one is E-IPS which is what the newer Panels use. Basicly this improves contrast and viewing angles.

LG, SAMSUNG, heck even Westinghouse make the "glossy" panel LCD's. But they are not a big seller as they dont take to light sources well and have bad refelection problems. The filter on the glass works well in low light and no light areas, but livingrooms (where most TV's go) they do not work well.

BUT you asked about H-IPS and glossy. Most of the NEW LN models from SAMSUNG use what you are looking for. And while LG makes TV's, more of the panels they make go in other name brands, several of the "apple type" lcds go in several differnt sized and brand LCD's.

Now as I mentioned before, when you stack 10 boxes in a1 foot and then 10 boxes in a stack 10 feet tall the boxes are way bigger, but its still 10 boxes. Pixel size relates directly to how close you sit. AND the elctronics behind the LCD panels can very grealty. The SAMSUNG ones would proebely be the closest to the APPLE ones.

AND how you view and opinions on how it looks, well thats each our opinion. But from a purely tech side, there should be LCD TV's with the same "look" as an apple monitor. If you dont feel that way, no worries, the apple 24" suits you, great, saves you money from buying a newer bigger one. I myslef love my 24" PC monitors (actually just upgraded to the 26" SAMSUNG one, not a fan of the glossy screens, but so far its ok, maybe it will grow on me) Factory setting where WAY TO WASHED out, but some tuning (disney DVD's and Blu Rays have a nice "free" (if you own the DVD) program that works well for the general person to get your colors close to correct.

I use my PC LCD (so i do understand where you are comming from) way more then my LCD DLP big screen (but when i do watch a blue ray, or play a console game I love how it looks).

If I recall the numbers correctly, the Jasper Xbox360s have around a 3% failure rate, which is around what the PS3 has. I also believe the Wii's failure rate was higher.
