hehe.. oops! yes, far cry.

i'm having issues with 3dm03. at first it wouldn't run, then i found a hotfix for the x800. now it just drops to desktop after test 1.. and no, i don't put much credence in the #'s, but i wanted to compare the diff to my 9800p.

So do you think you will keep it or just play with it and sell it off while it's still worth a premium?

A few questions if I may.
Where did you order it from?
What kind of shipping did you get? (NextDay, Ground, ect.)
How long did it take?
Curious because i ordered mine yesterday.
and finally...
Was it worth it? Im waiting on my X800Pro now, also to replace a 9800Pro (R.I.P.).
I had to kick back to a FX5600 256mb... yes a 5600. So im assuming after seeing this...

Battlefield Vietnam: X800Pro Vs. what we have

Battlefield Vietnam was certainly the largest visible performance gain to us, the user, when going from a previous generation Radeon card to the new X800 Pro series.

That I will be extremely pleased with the Pro. As BFV is my main game, and I can attest that in my rig my FX5600 256mb gets an avg. 46fps like the 5700 128mb. Which is playable, but jaggie as all get out.

And if it does OC like many are saying it does now, an extra 20% is an incredible, almost unbeliveable, jump in performance. Albeit probably a little liberal in the 20% increase. I was wondering why no one would bench them OC'd. Most likely beacuse they reach XT levels to easily without the four extra pipes and .4ns faster memory. Dont get me wrong i know the additional pipes/faster memory are worth it, just not at 1024*768 2xAA/4xAF.

Y.A.F.

oh... and

What CPU/mobo are you running with that? Thanx

and id say an increase in min fps from 15fps to 36fps is worth writing home for. most users rigs are CPU bottlenecked, or so it would seem from the most recent benches. so biggest gains are going to be in minimum fps seeing as most cards can max out systems nowadays.

min fps 40.17 @ 1600x1200 w/ max detail in Far Cry... i always have both an nvidia and ati gpu, so i'm really not particularly partial to one over the other, but i have to admit i'm impressed with this performance. now if only i could get 3dm03 to run.. buggin the hell outta me..

i think so.. doubled far cry performance where cpu bottleneck wasn't an issue. not sure how you could complain about that - and it's less expensive then the 9800xt ever was.

yea, still original hs/f.

no artifacts. it actually clocked up to 534.05 / 603.08 before showing artifacts. i clocked back down to 525.00 / 552.00 to leave a bit of room for error.

hahahaha...that came out differently than was intended. To be honest I think Farcry is the problem. the guy has a top of the line system and it kinda gets by. Perhaps its CPU limited, but cmon...they need to optimize their engine or something. Farcry doesn't look that good to just get by on his system.

Wow, dude, you must be rich. Buying a X800XT plus a 6800GT?? Crazy~~

As for Far Cry, too bad the X800Pro doesn't net too much of a performance improvement. I was hoping that with a rig like yours, the min FPS could be at least 60-80fps. Considering how advanced the Far Cry engine is, though, I'm not complaining.

ah, i see your point. i have heard a bit here and there about people saying it could have been polished more. but i havent picked it up yet (wanna watch a slide show on my 5600?). so i dont know myself.

FarCry does seem to be the game that distinguishes the XT from the Pro so those results are on par. but check out the difference between the two.

i mean DAMN

look at that last one. WOW! Min FPS of the XT beats the Pros max... enough said.
