So far there have been about five threads asking the same thing but none with polls. So, I made one. I will be the first to vote I am sayign 6800GT because of the 16 pipes and the PS3. the pipes mean that even if you can't clock as high a percent you will be yielding 1/3 more perfomance per clock, thioretically speaking. And I am fully aware that PS3 makes no real world differences now, but I am predicting by the time we get a whole new revision of core there will be a visable difference. I am also taking into consideration the current price difference. If the x800Pro drops in price like predicted then my vote may change.

EDIT: I was wrong on pipelines, so I am chaging it to GT.

i believe it is the 6800 GT that has the 16 pipes. the 6800 non ultra is a 12 pipeline card

if i am not mistaken, i would take the X800 pro

If you are not mistaken then yeah I woudl take the X800Pro. I checked and Shady is right, so I am just gonna change the poll from Non-ultra to GT

Considering the x800pro competes well with the 6800ultra now and can also show very good overclocks, x800pro vote from me which is even more amazing considering its running on 12 pipelines compared to 16. When the final 6800gt's arrive they will be toting single slot designs, which will translate to lower overclocks.

I added an Arctic Collong VGA Silncer to my 9600 pro overclocking so I would definatly do the same to either Nvidia or ATI.

The X800pro isn't really even a competitor in my mind vs. the 6800GT with 16 pipes right now. But what I would want to know is how the decreased amount of transistors will effect the 6800GT's performance using FP32. Anand did state it's one of the factors the 6800U performs so well using FP32, but maybe there is something over looked. Benchmarks must be seen.

But if it does turn out to be a major roll playing factor, I don't expect the GT's performance to be much better than the 6800.

i'll have an nv40 later, then probably an x800xt. what can i say, i have fun with hardware

oh.. btw, regarding the topic - frankly i think it's too early to tell.

The idea behind the thread was which will you be getting, only time and benchmarks cantell which is better.

I'll take my 16 pipes thank you very much. It just makes me sleep better. Kind of like the extra cache on my A64 3200+ over the 3000+ Besides, ATI's had a good run with me, but I finally like nVidia's effort better (first time since my TNT2 Ultra)

Just to toss somethign in here maybe to spur another discusion, teh NF3-250 obviosly has optimazations toward the nvidia cards, does this factor into your decisions, did you eve think of it? Just becasue someone always asks: Proof

I don't think it's significant enough that it's a deciding factor but it certainly helps to cement my decision considering I'm looking to get that MSI nForce3 250 board too. Like the extra four pipes, it's just another thing that helps me sleep better (as you can tell, I need a lot of help sleeping )

I voted for the GT, even though I consider myself an Atifanatic. I'm interested to see if the GT really makes it to market, I don't think it will because it competes too much with the Ultra. If it does, I bet it gets nuetured pretty badly by some of the various makers and buyers will really have to know their stuff to get the proper one.

I'm interested to see both go thru some driver maturity before I would make a final decision thou. I will still more than likely get the X800pro in an actuall purchase situation.

Well since only one of them is out, its pretty obvious.

I dont think we'll know which is the better card till this fall. When Doom3 is hopefully out, HL2, and the PS 3.0 version of Farcry. But currently the games and settings I play, the X800 Pro is faster. So I would get it. And it can be had for $360, and is out now... where as the 6800 GT is no where to be seen. :/

Thats yer last bastion of hope for your ATI love ACKmed. The only hope is that the GT is not available.. because when it is (soon)... it is simply superior.

62% voted for a card that you can't buy? Good for the budget anyways.
