X800pro or 6800GT? ***POLL***

im going to be a 6800gt customer.

Is it me or the radeon cards look better? they have this nice red panel in front that reads "radeon" on the front. plus its transparent and just looks plain cool. nvidia just has a huge grey block. ehh.

ummm, the x800 Pro is meant to compete with the 12 pipeline 6800 non ultra. since there are no benchies, its hard to justify calling it a crap brox.

just imagine the demand when/is someone figures out how to unlock those extra 4 pipes

it competes at the $399 pricepoint, and therefore whatever card in that price range.

ati has stated the 4 unused pipes are actually "cut", so they will not be useable (unless of course ati is just saying that).

the # of pipes mean nothing by themselves w/o considering the rest of the architecture; the 4 pipe 9600xt is faster than an 8 pipe 9500pro; the 4 pipe nv35/38 is competetive with the 8 pipe r3xx. the reason the r3xx is faster is not due to the # of pipes, rather the shader power.

well, the MSRP is $399 but it has already been available for less than it and will even cheaper by the time the 6800 Gt hits shelves

as far as the pipelines, i really dont see it as being cost efficent for Ati to cut them, but maybe i'm just clinging on to a dream

There's no indication or guarantee it'll be cheaper than the $360ish we're seeing now in a month, especially given the continued limited availability.

As to the 4 pipelines, they are laser cut as has already been confirmed by a far eastern site. There's no way a softmod is gonna work on these. Congrats to ATI on dropping the cockblock on the cheap bastards (relatively speaking of course)
