So I guess they are going to try to rape and gouge out??? The xpro is supposed to be msrp of 399.00 but it is 100 dollars more now on pricewatch...

I usually though MSRP was usually the average to high end with some manufacturers like ASUS always trying to get more off their name and the rest being there or a hair lower....

So what do you think??? 2-3 weeks prices will be in the 399-420 range??? At 500 I will get the FX 1100 card in 2-3 weeks...399 I buy the x800 and never look back...

it'll be $399 once they are widely available, or probably $379 at a few places.

Close to $300 in 6 months.

People will buy it for $500 right now as its the first card on the market. Once the XT and the 6800s are released I expect it to drop significantly. But right now it gives ATI huge profit margins.

I doubt it!!! ATI did not sell these cards higher then their MSRP...This is pure dealer profit caused by pent up demand....I doubt ATI has anything to do with the 500 dollar price being thrown at us by the band of jackels (which I wont do business with companies like that) other then, they can keep demand pent up to run the card pricing at the high end level for a longer period...

Exactly, until there's 6800's for sale, the X800 Pro is king of the hill, charging 500$ just makes sense until there's competition...

Im watching this one because I think this is the card I want to buy for my new system. I just got everything up and running tonight with my old Radeon 9500pro and will wait a few weeks to see what shakes out.

just a little hot deal tip concerning Micro Center. They have a deal going where you can get a $50 rebate on any purchase of $50 or more when you get one of their credit cards. Not sure when it expires and it's probably only available at brick and mortar stores.

Let supply catch upto demand and the price will fall. I am guessing the X800Pro will be 350 by mid summer.

It will drop a bit once the 6800GT shows up also.

I guess you did not figure out the purpose of the 9800 XT and 5950 Ultra was to doop you into thinking paying 400-500 dollars was ok.

Two vodoo 2 cards were roughly $650 when they came out, and people bought those to play quake2 at 1024x768.

Well,
I'll NEVER pay more than $250 for ANY video card. Why? because I can buy an entire console gaming system for a little more and $350+ is RIDICULOUS price for mainstream buyers...just my $0.02. I don't mind them demanding a high price, they'll just never get my business HA!

Stupid people will. Why do you think places like Rent-a-center are in business. That's right....stupid people. I 'may' pay $100 for a 9700/9800. Maybe.

These gpu's have around twice the transistors of a new P4 chip so lets face it these parts are never going to be under $200.

And the rest of us bought them when you could get an SLI for $300 The only people dumb enough to be dropping $500-600 on graphics cards are the same ones currently buying Athlon FXs or P4 EEs Can't fault the chip makers for catering to a fiscally retarded portion of the population. Just because you have/are willing to spend the cash doesn't mean it's an intelligent decision...

I'm probably going to get an x800xt, and I won't be purchasing a P4EE or an Athlon FX . Although the only reason is that I ended up getting current 9800xt for $250, and I'll be able to sell it for ~100 more, so the cost of the card will be about $400. I do agree that spending $500 is quite ridiculious At least this generation seems to be a pretty big leap over the previous.

I'll give you that; I'm finally thinking of upgrading too. This is the first time since the 9700Pro where an upgrade will result in a significant speed boost. I'll be taking a look at that GT card when it drops closer to $300ish and I can sell my 9700Pro plus AC Silencer to put the price where I'm comfortable.
