How are they going to handle the BR drive speed with games like GTA4 and stuff? I don't understand why they are doing this. I must be purely for movies which I could care less about in HD.

I guess it could read DVDs faster than Blu-ray discs.

Does blu-ray drives read dvd discs? If they do, microsoft might still keep producing their games on DVD's (that's the format now right?) they haven't produced any games in HD DVD i believe so technically there's no foul in this assuming the former to be true. It would just allow the xbox to play blu ray discs and I guess, if needed, produce games on it.

Bluray drives can read dvd discs.
Liteon who I believe Microsoft is now contracted with to make drives for the 360 has a bluray drive that reads bluray discs at 4x and dvd-9 at 8x. Don't remember what the 360 is able to read at.

How many XBoxes have you gone through? Do you really trust MS to make decent hardware after this debacle? IMHO, I would wait for someone else to make a BD product for the 360. Hell, it's probably better to get a PS3 instead.

I've had as many Xbox 360s die as I had PS2s die - 1. Disc read error on the PS2, RRoD on the Xbox 360. The Xbox 360 failure cost me $0 and I was without my 360 for 0 hours. I trust Microsoft hardware as much as I trust Sony hardware, considering I've had $2000 worth of Sony hardware die (prematurely, but out of warranty).
Now please, stop trolling. This thread is about the possibility of Blu-ray on the 360, not the RRoD.
