Xbox from Japan in the States?

Does anyone know if the xbox has reginol encoding or anything? I have a friend in japan and he told me that an xbox is like $80 bucks there. and shipping would be like $30. so i would save about $40 bucks. however, i don't know if i could use one from japan with out adapters and japanese software and what-not. any input is helpful!

I think Japanese are PAL, so no it wouldn't work.

Itll work but you'll need a mod chip to play games.

Japanese is NTSCJ while we are NTSC so while the hardware is compatible, the software is not.

Taking too much reginol can lead to anal leakage, read the package prior to ingesting.

Yep, most places sell a refurb xbox, with a game, for $120 + tax. It's not worth importing.
