Does anyone else own an xb360 and refuse to pay the online gold fee? This should be free and it's lame that its not.

You get what you pay for. I can understand your frustration, but I don't have a problem paying a little over $3 a month for XBL.

Full retail is 49.99 but there are always deals to be found. A 12 + 1 month card on Amazon.com is only 38.99 right now. That's $3 a month. Back when Buy.com used to have the $10 Google Checkout deal, it could sometimes be had for $27.99 or less when the cards went on sale.

I think it is totally worth paying for. It has only been down 2 major times in the 3 years I have had it, and we got a free game out of one of the times. (even though the game sucked haha)

I didn't own a 360, but my roommate did and it was worth it to me to pay for the service. I quite enjoyed it and as others said buy.com + googs checkout = cheap for 13months.

That being said if I had a 360, I'd still pay 60 bucks for it.

It's worth it. I've never known an XBL Gold subscriber to complain about the price. Most of the people who complain about the price don't even have 360s.

Sony is improving the PS3's features though, so I wouldn't mind if it gets to the point where Microsoft can't justify charging for their service anymore.

I do, i dont care about multiplayer much on the 360. Ive played free multiplayer on the PC for ages and see no reason why i should pay more for the 360's, especially when the games already cost a good chunk more than PC games. I have however bought a few arcade games, doom, geometry wars 2 etc, they were worth it, had a blast with doom split screen multiplayer.

Maybe this will change as i slowly migrate onto consoles (im getting a lot more console than PC games lately) but for now im happy with the free multiplayer on the PC.

I think they should take the NetZero approach and allow a few hours free per month so they could get some more casual players on there.

I don't think it's worth it when I can play on PC or PS3 for free. Why pay for extra conveniences that have never made me enjoy gaming more or less? If it's worth it to you, then pay for it. It's a great online service, no doubt...it's just not worth paying for to me.

People keep on saying it is FREE on the PC and PS3. That is wrong. The price is of online service has been bundled in with the price of the game. With XBL Gold, you are just being charged twice (or more).

Example, look at battle.net online-capable games. Even after aging several years, instead of costing $3 for an out of date game, they still cost $30 due to continued support, both offline and online.

looks like you don't refuse, but rather it's not worth the value. there is a difference.

Ain't that the truth. Well, that or kids who have never gotten a job before and their parents who won't let them borrow their credit card. Seriously, I rather complain about gas prices (luckily going down but I feel that the oil companies are stilling scamming us since at sixty something dollars a barrel, gas should be under $2.00 now) or how our 401K is going down the toilet. Worth it, and IMO it is CHEAP.

look at WoW...we pay 14.99$ a month , PER ACCOUNT...on xbox live you get to play ALL games online (games that are capable at least).
