i needed to port foward all the NAT so i could play live with my buddy at Rutgers. I fowarded:
88udp, 3074both, 53both, 80tcp on .102. I set xbox to manually connect to .102. But it seems whenever i reset my xbox it doesnt work... perhaps its still dynamic ip.. but when i reset my router, it always works right after (as in i unplug and replug the router). What am i doing wrong?

Well, you've got the right ports forwarded.

Can you assign the IP address for your 360's MAC inside the router? I do that over assigning a static IP within the Xbox settings.

i think i fixed it.. i have a linksys router and i found out the correct way to set a static ip - you need to set it outside dhcp first so thats above .149. I set it to .151 i think its alright. From what im reading you can't assign a mac address with my model.

fwiw I had problems with my wrt54g w/ dd-wrt. Even after forwarding all of the correct ports I would have odd issues with live (lagging, disconnects). Even though I hate it, using upnp was the only solution at the time.

nevermind still working like it did before. For Reference i do have a wrt54g version 5 but with the regular linksys firmware. Also, the xbox 360 is going through another router acting as a bridge. Anyone have this problem? Once again it connects fine, but in order for it to foward the ports it seems i have to replug the router and then it will work right after that.

Using universal plug and play normally fixes all of this. Sometimes you have to enable it on your router. The 360 will "tell" the router what ports to open.

I wish there was a way to auto save whatever the upnp does so i could turn it off afterward. Hate leaving that open.

Only if somebody compromises your internal network is it a security risk. And if they've gotten in there you're pretty screwed anyway. For home networks it's fine, just make sure it isn't running on the WAN/Internet port. Make sure to secure your wifi with WPA2 and you're fine.

I've got a similar problem. Using a WRT54GSv4 and I can't seem to forward the right ports to fix the NAT settings. I've tried enabling Upnp but it totally kills the rest of my internet, like none of the computers and laptops in my house can access the internet with Unpn open. I've pretty much just left the router at the default setting and even though the NAT not open msg pops up, I don't ever lag online when I actually play games and I don't have much problem finding games.

when I went to the NXE I had to manually input IP and DNS into my xbox for the net to work...says I am behind a NAT, but I don't want to forward ports...haha.

everything works still.

Anyone have a good solution for a multi-Xbox setup? I have 3-4 online concurrently here and I get some NAT issues using a WRT54G V8. All solutions I've found so far apply to only 1 Xbox.
