The deal with Xbox and VGA is that Microsoft went to great lengths to not allow VGA output from the Xbox. The device chizow linked to is basically a convertor that converts HD component video from the Xbox HDTV pack to VGA. These devices come with a quality as they have to perform a conversion. Some people will argue about how much you need to spend to get a good one. There are a couple of sites where people go into in depth discussion of this issue and quite a few people are looking for a solution. I remember a site (sorry I can't remember the site) where they talked about about the pin arrangement on an Xbox output and they went into detail on why the Xbox won't output all the necessary subsignals that make up a complete VGA signal. I didn't fully understand it all, but I gathered that it was intentional on Microsoft's part (this is reinforced by the fact that they have taken great pains to distinguish the Xbox from a "PC in black box" by not allowing keyboards or mice to be used with the Xbox - someone may have found a solution for those issues but the original intent remains), and that the only solution is a commercial or homemade component to VGA convertor. The good commercial units cost upwards of $250, and the homemade units are built using the same chipsets but have some compromises in the analog circuitry. The only system that I can think of that was designed to be compatible with VGA was the Dreamcast (and it looks beautiful on VGA).
