I agree they need to switch over to the glossy LCD screens , I recently had a Dell 2001FP LCD sitting next to my CRT (dual monitor) and anytime I would look at the LCD for awhile then back over at the CRT the glossy / smooth screen on the CRT was immediately noticed and made the LCD look 'grainy' in comparison.

Anyhow the Dell was no match for a 24" Sony GDM-FW900 Widesreen CRT(pic) , LCD just isnt my cup of tea ,at least until they can greatly improve the black levels / response times (and use glossy screens) I'm back to using only the CRT.

The glossy LCDs are remarkably better than normal ones. The local BB has that Sony HS95P on display and it looks way better than everything else around it. Those are the only LCDs that I would ever consider buying, but they are still only available in 17/19" versions and cost nearly twice as much as normal LCDs. I don't know why the coating is still so rare on desktop LCDs despite pretty much every laptop LCD having it these days.

The glare isn't really an issue under normal lighting conditions; it's about the same as a CRT. It looks more glared out on display in a store than in a normal room and no monitor looks good in a room with lots of bright ambient light anyway. The fingerprints being hard to clean is actually more of an issue (my CRT has opticlear on it and my parents keep touching the screen despite my grumbling about it), but you can always just keep others away from the monitor.

I always hear of people going to fry's and picking up comp hardware/accessories really cheap but there are none in Florida. Do you guys have any recommendations on where i can get stuff cheap around here?

There aren't any in my area either (rockville, MD) apart from the usual BB and CUSA. There is actually one smaller store called The Computer Place that carries things not available at the larger chains, but their prices are over the top. I only go there to look at things and then buy them online.

I soooo want a 21" xbrite/opticlear LCD for this Christmas. Sony, Dell, anybody, are u hearing us?
