I've had an XFX 5900 and a PNY 4200. The PNY had a contact problem in its pins wherein it wouldn't seat properly in the AGP socket and fried itself in a couple weeks. PNY refused to RMA, saying it was my fault. Thanks guys, you're off the list. The XFX came, worked fine for about two months, then started artifacting at stock - never been OCed, never BIOS modded, nothing. Pine (XFX parent company) offered a replacement, I said no thanks and went to eVGA. Never had a problem with them, nor with my current LeadTek.

I've owned both, I wouldn't even spit in their direction these days.

Fair Enough. I had an MSI 6600GT that I sold after 3 months. After two days in the buyers's pc, it shorted and caught fire. I consider that a fluke. I don't bash MSI now. I will admit Nvidia's own forums show alot of people having trouble with XFX 6600GT cards. /shrugs/

I'll be willing to give the fluke thing if it weren't for all the other rumblings I hear about those companies. Just looking around here you can find a million threads on XFX cards crapping out on people, and after the whole PNY fiasco at CompUSA where caps were coming off their 6800s (not to mention all the reports of loose heatsinks, etc), I'm not touching them either.

You simply don't hear the same complaint level about LeadTek, eVGA, BFG, etc.

XFX is crap.

So is PNY.

If you want a good card, I recommend:

LeadTek
eVGA
BFG Technology

Also, if you can bump your video card budget to about $200, the 6600GT is a MUCH better video card than the 6200 series.

Really? My 6600GT XFX oc's great (573/1.6) and runs perfectly.

XFX is a fine brand. Do not listen to the bullsh!t.

well although some ppl may have good experiences with the brand many havent, so why take the risk when u can get an EVGA or BFG that is 98% guaranteed to run well....

XFX is cheaper then all of the rest.

BFG Tech Geforce 6600GT 128MB $220.00

MSI Geforce 6600GT 128MB $176.00

XFX Geforce 6600GT 128MB $189.00 Mail-In rebate -$30.00 = $159.00
