XFX - good company?

I am seriously looking at the XFX 5900nu from New Egg.

Is XFX a good board? Reliable fan?

How is New Egg for an on-line vendor?

XFX is Pine Technologies. I've never bought anything from either "division" but I've seen lots of products from Pine Technologies at Best Buy, CompUSA, etc. So at least I wouldn't consider XFX a "new" company.

As a matter of fact...I'm very close to "pulling the trigger" and ordering a XFX 5900 NU. Before I buy...I'm trying to decide if future driver updates from nVidia will likely increase the performance of the 5900 NU in DX9 games. The card seems to jam with DX8 games but seems to really slow down running DX9 test apts.

Anyway...buying a new video card never seems easy (unless, unlike me, you have unlimited fundage and don't mind upgrading every 6 months with ever faster hardware

xfx has been in the game for a while, there doesnt seem to be any advantages or disadvantages of their products compared to competing companies

Yes Pine has been around awhile but their XFX division is newer,btw I read one of their GF4 TI4200 reviews about a year ago or so(XFX brand) and the image quality was better then the Gainward model according to the reviewer,so they at least do have a decent standard.

I would buy a XFX if the price was right.

I got thier 5900nu, got it from buy.com a bit ago, works great, and looks great, a warning tho, the card is huge, so if you don't have a bigger case and motherboard it might not fit.

i posted earlier on my xfx non ultra. ive looked at tons of reviews and benchmarks,it all boils down to money. sure the ati 9800xt may be the best card money can buy but is it really worth 450-500 bones. for me framerates are paid for and some hardware purchases are just bragging rights. the xtra 15 or 20 frames are not worth hundreds of dollars.
the most important thing is purchasing a card that will provide the kind of frames your happy with. do the research!

I am guessign that those of you who have the XFX FX5900nu do not have the V2.2. I have been reading posts and nightmares about this version. The one I received has massive artifacts at POST. It also appears that the memory is inferior to other versions. It is 400/700 oc'd to 400/800. Beware of what you purchase. Also, if you have the V2.2 adapter, are you having any issues with it?

I had an xfx ti4200, the tv out was superb - better than my ati 9600pro

What i have played so far, it runs beautifully, i have my monitor set at 75hrz, thats what the maximum framrate, which i don't think has gone below 60 yet, image quality is great, resolution is 1088X612, with all the details, i have no complaint

I have heard the stories, too. Newegg is selling a DIFFERENT XFX 5900 card now.

Different PCB, different memory (OC'd 2.8ns???), different HSF, and no heat spreader on the back of the card.

The card they show in the pictures is NOT the card they are shipping.

The cards they sold at the beginning of November were better in every way.

I had ordered one, but quickly cancelled my order and got an eVGA FX5900 instead. (Some say they will do 500/1000)...YMMV
