The last time I heard about them was how they skimped on VRMs on their GPUs. Not sure if anything has changed.

Mine work fine and OC well. The Double D HSF design could stand to be more rigid, but it's quiet.

Oh, and if you're selling a card with a crossfire connector, include a fucking cf bridge in the box, you cheap sons of bitches.

cut corners on quality (so they make more profit), but sell you on good warrenty.

Not sure if their warrenty is currently better or worse than anyone elses, but thats more or less how it ussed to be.

Personally I think Quality components > warrent.
I rather have something thats not likely to ever have issues, than have something that does, but have a easier time getting a replacement.

I wouldnt buy a xfx product lol.
--also if their GPUs are made, by cutting corners for profits, I doubt their PSU's are that great either.

That's a nice site, I'll have to use it for reference. Never seen infrared temp readings before.

Friend of mine just bought an XFX 6750.

His tale is quite surprising.

1. The card has 2 DVI ports built in and 1 DisplayPort. He needed HDMI out and assumed it came with an adapter. It did not.

He created a ticket with XFX (located in Canada and not open on that particular Monday for some reason) and he spoke to 'Kevin' who was very defensive and said "XFX does not ship adapter with their video cards". (I can get the exact exchange if anyone wants it.)

Well this was utter BS, the newegg image shows both of the adapters sitting next to the unboxed card and if that wasn't damning enough evidence...on the "What's in the Box" part of the packaging it says in black and white 1. DVI to HDMI adapter and 2. Display Port to HDMI adapter.

It was almost unbelievable, the audacity of the customer support...but he took a snapshot of the box and replied, "Really?"

They are shipping him some adapters.

2. It has no fan control built into the card, At first we thought it was defective. The fan ran at 100% in BIOS and AMD's fan setting in the drivers/Overdrive tab didn't do anything. To get around this, we jimmyrigged a 3 pin fan controller to the card and spoke once again to customer service. Apparently, it is their decision whether or not to include an integrated fan controller in the card and they chose not to (obviously to cut corners and costs). My friend decided to just leave the hardware fan controller on there as a permanent solution.

I won't buy XFX and I don't think he will either.

On the off chance you will ever have to deal with customer service, stick to eVGA, MSI, etc. The $5/10 you save as an initial cost will soon be bled from you through sheer frustration.

That's a dumb design.

My cards fan is adjustable in software.

I would have returned it, rather than jury rigging an adjustable one and (probably) voiding a warranty. There's no legitimate reason to be selling a video card without at least a temp controlled fan these days, and AMDs drivers allow for manual fan control.

I had an XFX Radeon 6950 that had an extremely bizarre issue: It would show massive amounts of artifacts and corruption in games with DX11 tesselation. In all other games it was flawless, but if launched a game that used any kind of tesselation, major corruption would occur. Something was wrong with the card's tesselator.

This wouldn't have been so bad, except XFX's customer service totally refused to recognize the problem. I had to send in the card twice, and they kept telling me they had "thoroughly tested the card" (whatever that means) and it had no issues, therefore there must be something else wrong with my system.

I tried everything. By the time I tried actually removing the card and trying it another system - and it still had corruption - I had 100% objectively deduced that the card was faulty. The second time I sent it into XFX, I wrote pretty much a full page on how I tested literally everything. I even sent screenshots. They eventually shipped me a replacement card, although they said they "tested it" and still refused to acknowledge the problem.

Whatever. I don't plan on buying anymore XFX cards. I'm very satisfied with my Sapphire 7870 despite a few oddities with the 12.7 betas.

Seems in general alot of users not happy with buying XFX.
You might think everyone just jumped on the hate banwagon, but thats honestly not the case.
There have been threads about quality of GPUs before, and it always had stories about XFX.

Im with others on this one, dont buy XFX, they disappoint.

MSI,Asus, evga, sapphire, all give much better quality, admittedly sometimes for abit more cost.
Id say Sapphire has a good middle ground (if u buy amd), its cheap but has good quality.

If you buy nvidia, EVGA makes pretty middle ground products too, with extra's like upg options.
MSI and Asus are for the awesum costum coolers ect

Happy with a XFX 6870, except for noise...Wow the thing is loud. As in close doors loud.

Cuz they saved money on cooler design, and sold a crappy GPU cooler with their card.

The last XFX i owned was an 8800 Ultra. It died on me after 2 years of loyal service. It was time for an upgrade anyway, so i just buried it and moved on.... but it did die.

I will give XFX some props when they are getting bashed, they are very very quick when I have called or emailed to respond. My experience with MSI makes XFX seem pretty decent. MSI I would wait at the bare minimum 30 minutes to talk to someone. And no offense to anyone, but if I call an american number for tech support, please give me someone who speaks clearly and not in broken dialect. XFX seems to have local Californians who are pretty easy to understand.

My RMA experience has been good with them. I tried to buy their cards because of the double lifetime warranty but now that they stopped that, I look at other brands as well. In fact, my previous 6950 and 4870 were both XFX, but now my cards are MSI TF3 models.

I wouldn't XFX are OK but using cheap components to improve margins stinks and that's what they do. Asus/Sapphire/EVGA/Gigabyte are the only ones I'd look at. My XFX 5870 was non reference and I couldn't use afterburner or anything else. A cheaper (components not price) version that annoyed me-glad to be rid of it and wouldn't buy anything from them again. If you want to sell non reference make it at least as good as ref not noticeably crapper!

Only XFX cards I've ever bought was a 5450 that died, and a 6790 that came DOA in 2 different builds about a year apart.

Going 2/2 with one brand kinda make me avoid there GPU's, as in 15 years the only other video cards I've had die on me was an Hercules PowerVR Kyro II (after 3+ years of use) and a 9700 Pro that had been retired to my fathers PC a number of years back. (it died due to the fan quitting and him not noticing).
