XP System Restore

We have a workstation that the application log got cleared and we would like to view the older entries. Does system restore capture a copy of the EVT files when it makes a restore point?

I don't think so.

Only a copy of the registy, program files and system files that are considered protected are copied with system restore.

Yes ofcurse, the system log catches all the files together and all the changes you ever maded from the first installation of XP.
