When I go to Desktop -> right click -> Properties -> Adapter tab it is blank, and the Monitor tab says Default Monitor. I actually have a GeForce2 MX and a Samsung SyncMaster 950p. It does seem that my refresh rate is low (I can't change it), and when I tried installing Diablo 2 it says no video mode detected. I tried installing some nVidia drivers, DirectX, and Windows Update, but it seems to me the problem is deeper. I'm not sure how I'm able to use my computer and System -> Device Manager or anything doesn't "recognize" that I have this card or monitor. Back to under the Adapter tab, if I click Properties, it says VgaSave, and I'm not sure what that is.
I don't know if it matters, but here is how this seemed to be caused. I have been using XP for a long time now and I installed linux to dual boot. I got an error during the linux install and when I reinstalled again, Windows didn't show in the boot choice screen. Anyways, although all I had to do is add a few lines to the boot loader (grub), in the process of trying to get Windows working again I tried a repair from the XP CD.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
[edit] my mobo is a K7S5A, and there are no other video cards than my Geforce2 MX.
