Here is one I haven't seen here as yet.
I have a Win 2000 Pro system that acts as a program server for my small office peer-to-peer LAN.
I have 11 workstations, 10 of whom may be operating this program at any one time (by license restrictioons). When each station starts it has a mapped drive that points to the D: partition on this W2K computer. Each station's username and user password is listed as a user on the W2K system.
All this worked just fine while all the workstations were running Win98SE. I have now upgraded them to WinXP-Pro and all of them but one work as before. One system logs on and finds all mapped drives (there are a total of three per workstation for various reasons) . . . BUT the W2K system. Therefor, the program won't launch as it can't find the path.
If you go into Explorer and double-click on the mapped drive with its red X it gives you a password screen which has the same username as the person who just logged on. Typing in the same password that this user just used to boot the computer, it then logs onto this mapped drive instantly and everything is fine for the rest of the session.
The next morning, it starts all over again. There is only one User on the workstation, and when you click on her icon it gives you the password field and you type in her password. It completes the logon, but is not connect to the W2K system. Hit the mapped drive, fill in the password and away we go for another day.
I have checked and rechecked and had others look at the exact spelling of the username and the password, and they are identical on both systems . . . yet this one system won't connect to this mapped drive without manually entering the password.
Any ideas?????
