XP won't recognize CD pics

Need help. Have digital camera pictures on CD's that a I burned on an H-P burner under Win 98SE. Uprgraded operating system to XP Professional however i can no longer read the pics. Worked fine in Win 98SE. I can play an audio CD burned under 98 on the XP but not pictures. Any help appreciated.

This is a software issue and not General Hardware related.

Have you recently tried reading the cd in question on a Win98 box? It might be XP, or it might be the cd.
Do you have any other cd with pics that you could try reading on XP? I would try a few things first to rule out one or the other.

Yes, Mav, they read fine on Win 98 box. I burned some pics on the machine that i upgraded from 98 to XP. XP reads them fine. Just won't read those pics burned under 98.

I read all my digital pics on CDR burned for the past several years in 98, 98SE, ME, and now XP Pro, just fine. What are you reading them with? It could be any number of things - even your CD player. Could be your reader software. A JPG file is a JPG file.

I just popped in a CDR with picture made on 98SE in 1999 - used XP Pro's Explorer, and it displayed all the JPG files - picked one and it opened in my designated JPG reader full screen. So, I would say that XP is not the problem. What kind of drive are you trying to read with?

corky, i have 3 boxes with Win XP. one was a new box that was a clean install of XP. tried just as your said under XP Pro Explorer and it did not recognize the cd. under 98SE i was using Ulead 4.0 software that came with the H-P 9300 series burner. just hate to lose all the pics i saved. querried Ulead but no answer. thanks for your help.

It sounds a lot like a problem I had with cds I burned in Win98 and couldn't read in WinXP - try using CD-R Diagnostic and see if it can find your files...
