I'm a beer snob. When I drink beer, I'm not drinking to get drunk, I'm drinking to enjoy the flavor of the beer. And to that end, the domestic macros are extremely unsatisfying. Bud, Miller, Coors, Michelob, PBR.... There's nothing inherently wrong with them, they just simply aren't that great. They are made for mass-market appeal, which means low flavor, meant to be drunk ice cold so they seem refreshing, but the cold is merely masking the fact that the flavor isn't very good. And this wouldn't be a problem except that with so many fantastic beers the world has to offer, why would I waste my time drinking something that was average at best?

I won't fault anyone for their choice in beverage. You found a beer you like, and more power to you. I'll toss back a macro myself if I'm hanging out watching a game with my friends... and I'll enjoy it. But you're never going to convince me that it's the "best beer". I'm never going to go out and intentionally buy Bud Light. I'm never going to think that it's better to freeze my palatte off with a low-flavor beer that needs to be drunk ice cold to be even remotely satisfying when I could treat myself to the complexities of a fine porter, stout, ipa, pale ale, trappist, hefeweizen, or any other of the hundreds of beers I've had that I consider better than Bud Light... and the thousands more I've yet to try.

Life's too short to limit yourself to just one beer.

damn, I think I grew tits reading that.

It gave me the urge to wear some plaid shorts and to wear some fancy shirt so as to pop the collar.

What atomic said is 100% correct regarding drinking those brews cold- i dont know why everyone is giving him shit for being educated and telling the truth.

and also, why the funk would i pay $22 for a case of coors light when i can pay $25 for yuengling or $30 for victory and have 1000% more satisfaction?? if you guys are refusing to drink any other beer due to implications of snobbery, then the bud/miller/coors marketing machine totally owns you

Why are you making a fool of yourself with all of those assumptions? This is ATOT.

I'm 28 now. I still from time to time drink a light domestic...mainly only when I want to drink > 4 beers. To compensate for the higher cost of the beer I actually like (Sam Adams, Newcastle), I drink less quantity and less frequently. It's helped my wallet, my pallate, and my waistline.

I have noticed there's a few types of beer drinkers, I'll list them.

1. Guy who can't get enough.

This guy doesn't give a rat's ass about his beer, just what it does to him. He generally sticks with the cheapest possible to maintain a low cost:drunk ratio. This guy is generally your typical loud annoying frat boy as well.

2. Guy who really thinks light domestics are superior.

All I can say is, to each their own.

3. Guy who would rather not drink at all if only light domestics are available.

This is a bit extreme to me, but these guys do exist.

4. Guy who prefers a bit more expensive beer personally, but will drink whatever's generally available most of the time.

This is probably me. If I want to get big time intoxicated (which is rare anymore), I'll buy some Coors Light or Bud Lime. But 80% of the time I'm drinking the beer I prefer.

5. Guy who drinks primarily for the taste.

I do this alot too.

Bud/Coors/Miller have done a remarkable job promoting inferior (IMO) beer to the masses, but it's no different than other mass producing industries. Pump it out at the lowest cost possible, market the hell out of it with cold mountains and hot chicks, and watch Joe America go crazy.

There's a tear in his beer.
perhaps it adds a slight saltiness to the brew, with a relatively low level of bitterness. combined with adding the hops very late in the brewing process, it serves to highlight the aromatic quality and provide a fresh, green and herbacous aroma.

But is it TRIPLE HOPS BREWED?!?

That would explain why you enjoy bud light. I'm in college, therefore I enjoy bud light.

I saw a kids thing on Facebook where he rated his "favorite beers". Here was the list:

1) Natty Ice
2) Keystone Light
3) Bud Light
4) Busch Light
5) Bud Ice

I proceed to smack my forehead and wrote on his wall "drink real beer."

That generated quite a few responses.

If you're going to drink a "light" beer........drink PBR.

You need to go to Nebraska Brewing Co. at 370 & 72nd and try the sampler.

I'll drink it if it's around, but it's not my favorite. Then again, I'm not one for light beers in general, half the calories, half the taste....

Personally, if I'm getting regular grocery store or convenience store beer, I'll go with a Corona Extra. (nothing quite as refreshing as ice cold corona + lime, imho).

If I'm going to the wine/liquor store, I'll get some Spaten Pils or whatever the featured beer is that day.

If I'm eating out, I'll usually get the house amber.

Now if I'm at a bar... I'll probably go with bud/bud lite just because it's cheap and accomplishes what I want.

Not in college anymore, but I'm 23 if you consider that college age.
I'm sure age does play a role in beer preference, younger kids having a tolerance for nearly anything, etc. I like almost any beer as long as it's cold.

I wasn't joking around when I said i'd take a Bud Light over other beers though. Call me humble, content, ignorant, stupid or whatever. Perhaps my tastes will change one day... Perhaps.

I drink Heineken in the winter if it's not too pricey at the store, but Corona tastes like a great summery beer to me.

How many different types of beers have you tried? Perhaps your experiences aren't varied enough.

Definitely. However I require a slice of lime in mine.

Landshark is a good corona alternative, usually similarly priced.

I've never had it actually. I'll have to give it a try!

Hmm. Landshark looks the same color as Corona, but is made in FL so maybe a bit cheaper for some of us east coasters?

cheap light beers are for working on vehicles and summers at the river/lake. expensive beers are for enjoying the taste/buzz and are better for enjoying the vibe of a place/event imo.

Might be. It's $8.99/6 out here, spot on with Corona Extra.

Checking around it's about $7.49/6 nearby according to the web.

Thanks for the tip.

How in the hell do you guys drink heavy beers all the time? I enjoy a good heavy beer but when I'm out with buddies, I don't want to be bogged down by drinking heavy ass beers. Also it's not like they sell IPA's at the bars that normal people go to. I'd rather be drinking a piss Bud Light and be talking to women in a bar then sitting at home in front of a computer drinking a good tasting heavy beer.

Who else loves the smooth deliciousness that Bud Light provides?

it's like having sex in a canoe
