A bunch of asshats on here. Bud light tastes like water and is a garbage beer. Sure, I'll drink me some if I'm somewhere and it's all that's available, or retardedly cheap. I'm gonna take a $5 pitcher over a $6 cocktail.

Calling someone a beer snob is fine, but your macro brews suck ass. They give beer a bad name. It's like buying a $3 bottle of boone's farm and saying that you love wine with dinner.

It also applies to other refined or aquired tastes like Gourmet prepared foods, fine wine or even something like a complex cheese.

Real men drink beer, they don't harp over them like they may on a scotch or bourbon or cognac...but then again they aren't dropping $20+ on a single serving either. This proves you're just an idiot troll rather than simply ignorant, I don't even know ANY men that drink Bud Light unless thats all thats left in the cooler. The only Men I know that buy Bud Light, are buying it for a chick and most women I know appear to have a better beer palate than you do....sorry, but it has to be said..LOL

Most small pubs will not have a grand selection. If you aren't targeting them because they serve your beer you are going to be either lucky or disappointed. I guess you just don't get it. I don't have "a beer"...I like GOOD beer, and there is a lot of good beers to have....around here, GOOD BEER is easy to find. I sure wouldn't go to some place TO DRINK BEER if they made me feel like some kind of dumbass because I'm NOT ordering Bud Light, and someone that proposes that something like Bud Light is GOOD BEER is certainly someone I couldn't take seriously when it comes to "taste"

It's pointless.

Alky is a perfect example of "The TV ads with the boobies and bright lights and big awesome explosions tells me it's the truth so it MUST be the truth!"

No one with at least an average complement of properly-firing synapses actually believes that "Real Men" only drink light domestics.

The Real Men who founded this country, and those generations before them created and drank beer that was more akin to Bread than water (light domestics).

The early settlers and explorers substituted beer into their diets as it was:

-Full of vitamins and nutrients
-safer than water
-awesome.

Of course, this beer was NOTHING like the piss water that alky bongs into his gullet on a daily basis.

and all of these men were far closer to the classic definition of "Real Man" than about 95% of men born in the previous century, when you considered the type of lives they lead and things they dealt with on a daily basis.

If Alky had his way, real men would be sitting on couches all day watching football, drinking Coors, and loving their cats.

Not chopping wood, exploring jungles, surviving months-long cross-ocean voyages on leaky vessels surviving on moldy scraps and hoppy beer. etc....

What the hell Zinfamous?

So if you drink a beer that is more fermented shit stuffed in it than liquid you can kill bears, build civilization, kill the british, and build log cabins?

But if you drink a mainstream beer you sit on the couch doing your nails and petting cats?

You deceived yourself somewhere along the line.

What beer you drink has nothing to do with what kind of person you are...some people don't even drink beer and live wonderful lives.

The thing that startled me in this particular beer thread was the posters giving reasons why they liked BL such as "brewed with rice" and "the beechwood chips" that give it flavor.

The reason they substituted rice was TO CUT COSTS, and none other. It was an outcome of their relentless industrial research in to how to cheapen their brewing process.

A hundred years ago August Busch brewed Bud and then aged it in beechwood casks. Today, during it's industrial creation process, it's run through stainless steel vats into which they throw a couple, three sad lonely chips of beechwood only so they can still say "beechwood aged" on their label.

You fools will buy into anything, I swear. Bud follows the business model of Nike and Starbucks -- take a commodity, advertise it like HELL, and you can then charge an exorbitant price relative to the cost of the ingredients and PROFIT on the stupidity and endless credulity of the general populace.

You bozos PAY for all those endless, flashy, feel good commercials that saturate the airwaves. Mr. Mindless Bud Consumer, we salute YOU! See? You're the punchline of their own joke and you pay for it.

The saddest thing is, there are still regional beers like Yeungling and Lionshead that not only cost less than Bud but are FAR superior in taste in the very same vein of light lager, hands down.

Meh, it's your life, drink whatever you settle for . . . but bragging about it and coming here and touting makes me laugh out loud.

You are classic examples of mindless, mass media driven lemmings.

Drink up!

Some people just have a preference, Perknose.

Many people like Nike products, Starbucks Coffee, and yes, Budweiser, though they are not really fair comparisons because Nike markets a mainstream market, Starbucks occupies a premium market and Budweiser is a low cost leader.

I've also never seen Yeungling or Lionshead cost less, and taste is completely subjective.

Some people like Soy Milk, some people scoff at that because it isn't even real milk, so what? I only drink whole but it doesn't piss me off that people drink skim or soy.

I can agree.

Once InBev bought the line out things did go south (like our florida theme parks no longer serving up free beer, and even then the regular fare was two cups per person max...).

I like my beers a certain way. I like to tip and sip a light and slow boat a stout. I really don't care what commercials or T&A was shown for them, I make my picks based on taste in the beer market. Sky is pretty much the limit for even the average joe's income.

My heavy is the die hard Guinness Stout. I used to have their logo I cut out from the boxes around my gym.

My light is the heavily advertised Mich Ultra...it's like water really, with the flavor I like. I can just drink and enjoy doing so without worrying about getting too messed too fast.

I consume drinks, whether water, soda, etc. I go through 12 sodas a day or more...about a drink each hour I am awake.

I like easy...if I am drinking the hard stuff I really have to watch myself or be constantly switching up my orders. The waitresses are quick to 'refill'.

I am never ever going to step up to a soapbox and profess Mich Ultra is the absolute best beer ever. I know I like it and to me if I work out all the math it would be my best option.

I think beer is a personal selection...none should be 'expensive' although some are very much so. I will say the 'real' drinks that can cost 3 or more figures per serving do have milestones. However, even among those you can be polarized based on a certain taste.

In the end, I don't care what someone drinks as long as it doesn't make my drinking a clusterfuck. If they don't have your selection available, pick something else. If their whole party is upset then it's cool to just leave, if not; they should shut the fuck up and order a water then and sit down .

starbuck's premium is based on price not quality. My wife is a coffee freak, she puts them way down on the totem pole. She loves Dunkin Donut coffee. She puts either McDonalds or Burger King coffee between those two...I forget, she makes lists and dunkin is on top..starbucks much lower. a few others including the fast food joints in between.

This is very regional...down here in South Florida I sometimes see imports being much cheaper than domestics. I am sure it's being subsidized.

I will say some people are very adamant against soy milk...I don't know why it's a crusade. In the end I usually find out they never even tasted it.

We use soy and 2% fat milk in my household. I like whole milk too, but saving some calories is more important.

That's the market Starbucks aims to entertain. The mass-market premium blend. Dunkin Donuts won their first taste test over Starbucks (apparently, by their mass marketing), but I think it's sugared and creamed up whenever anyone has it and the way their roast melds with the sugary flavors goes better, it's not my style as I like a lil' sugar and a good splash of whole milk in my brew. I like Starbucks coffee. I think they sell a good product for a good price and they have nice shops. I can always get a good cup of joe on the road.

That's all beside the point though. I'm just saying Budweiser isn't trying to charge a fortune per beer, it's a false analogy to compare them.

Those two might cost less there but I've never seen it that way.

Alk, my whole point of the post which you may have captured there at the end but may not is simply that people have different tastes, it's all very subjective and a taste in beverage doesn't define a person as a bear killing, british beating hulk.

I think this thread is dumb for the same reasons the "coffee snobs" tend to bash DD or Starbucks threads.

I don't give a damn what any of you drink.

McDonalds coffee is garbage, and Burger King's is a semi instant, and tastes like it. Dunkin Donuts is pretty good, but Starbucks is still better. In fact, I haven't had a chain coffee yet that's better than Starbucks.

Enjoy your $5 assrape. Starbucks is like the tourist favorite of the coffee world.

It's more about being able to say you can drop serious coin on an inexpensive beverage than anything else. This was the original way Starbucks was. Once it went mainstream it wasn't just high-rollers anymore.

I've had less than 5 cups of Starbucks coffee in my life. That doesn't change the fact that they have the best chain coffee of any common shop. Any complaints are from the drones that hop on the hate Starbucks bandwagon. You'll usually find these types pulling double duty bashing M$(don't forget the $ for the S ;^)) on the forums.

Except I was stating my wife's opinion and she is not into advocacy.

She personally doesn't like Starbucks that much and puts our local Mc Donalds over it...they are all in her mall except Dunkin Donuts. She stops on the way in for it.

We just picked up a Keurig this weekend though so now I am trying to find a Dunkin Donut like coffee...there are a couple recommendations online for clones.

I disagree. McD's coffee (at least around here) is far better than starbuck's. I can't even go to starbucks anymore, unless I want an overheated, overextracted, watered down, scorched cup of ass.
