I think they should be separate....some divisions have their cars made elsewhere. Like Ford's plants in the U.S. don't build the Volvo's or do all have the same parts (Volvos use Inline 5 cylinder engines with Turbos....do ANY Fords???). Land Rovers chassis and engine was last designed by BMW.... not Ford either, yet they still own them.

Again, based on JD Power's most recent Initial Quality Study, I'd have to say that Toyota/Lexus is the best...best engineered for reliability at least.

Best in terms of delicious design and performance has to be Ferrari.

looks like so far, toyota/lexus is tops, but honda is tops on it's own. which is pretty much what i expected.

Technically as in.. engineering; compnents or Marketing?

Honda/Acura; Toyota/Lexus, Nissan/Infiniti share quite a few of the components. So technically, they aren't different cars, IMO.

Most of it is just marketing hype. adding 2" to wheels / throwing in standard leather upholstery/ premium dvd navigation system etc doesnt make a "technically" different car
