I dunno, i think once supply starts coming back it will go down. if supply stays the way it is, then it's not going to come down.
If shitheads trying to resell would stop buying everything in sight the supply is there already...but sellers would have to back down from what they've inflated the prices to now which will be hard for them since people are still buying and they have no reason to lower their prices:\

It has been over a month since my last backorder for ammo shipped. Got confirmation today that I'll be getting 1500 rounds of brass .223 for $0.34/round. Not bad.

I'm happy that it is available for $.40/round right now. .34 would be amazing considering what I was paying in Spring.
I can't find it for that online once shipping is included, especially brass, and my small town is still bone dry on .223 of any flavor

Then buy the TULA ammo that is out there and flip it to your townies! haha.

The shipping isn't too bad for me due to the no sales tax (although I would of course report it on my state returns )

Think I'm gonna order some 9mm for $148.99 (500 rounds). It's been so fucking long since I've had a decent amount of ammo for the caliber.

Yeah but I actually like the people I know who shoot so I wouldn't do that

I just got 500 rounds from Cabela's for like $178 shipped, sounds like you're getting a better deal:'(

$165.09 with shipping. Freedom Munitions ftw!

Ah yes, I posted that a page or two ago...mine was new production Remington instead of reman, not that there's anything wrong with reman but for a couple bucks extra I took the new stuff

EDIT: Looks like they have new production also for $10 more...basically the same as I paid for mine:thumbsup:

Sportsman's Guide. I placed about $10k in backorders in December/January before their prices went up.

Now I'm just sitting back and waiting for them to ship.

Good luck. Every ammo backorder I have done with them has been extended 2-3 times and then cancelled.

I remember reading the same advice when I first ordered from their site last November.

Here are my order statistics since then:

Orders Placed: 77
Order Shipped: 49
Back Ordered: 16
Cancelled By Them: 9
Cancelled By Me: 3

Their rate of cancellations is about 12% so far. Their rate of extending back orders it much higher; as you said, it's not uncommon for a back order date to be extended by several months.

On the other hand, they were the only place in town that would let you place back orders at all back in January when shelves and warehouses were empty.

As you can see, a majority of my orders already shipped; I only have 16 that are left. Those 16 orders are for:

8500 rounds 7.62x39
6500 rounds 5.45x39
5000 rounds 5.56x45
1000 rounds 9mm

If they ship those items, awesome. If not, no big deal.

Sportsman's Guide also has some killer deals on EOTechs. I ordered an XPS2-0 for $420 shipped, which is a $80 less than anywhere else.

Planning ahead FTW! I didn't do that On the (kinda) bright side my local Academy store has a lot of .223 in stock right now! Bastards and their 2 box limit:'( Wasn't really worth the gas to get there for only 40 rounds:thumbsdown:

Finally got my first centerfire rifle. Ended up with the Tavor SAR in flat dark earth. I like the balance of weight. I find standard rifles, especially if they weight more than 8 pounds loaded, too front heavy (I shoot offhand almost exclusively) due to the magazine and barrel being in front of my strong hand. Although, enter the Daniel Defense M4v7lw which seemed pretty sweet compared to a colt 6940... I wanted to bring the DDM4v7lw home, but apparently, in VA, the AR15 is considered an "Assault Weapon" that needs proof of US citizenship. I didn't think of bringing my passport along since every other weapon I purchased (handgun, rimfire) only needed a valid DL and CHL or blank check with proper address...

I guess bullpups like the Tavor aren't covered by such ridiculous requirements?

The only thing the Tavor appears to be "missing" is an adjustable gas piston so that your face doesn't get splashed with carbon when using a suppressor. Guess I'll have to find an FS2000 for that...

Sorry for the crap picture. The Nexus 4 camera appears to not be all that great.

Nice first centerfire rifle! Only heard good things about those guys....well other than the trigger (but that applies to almost all bullpups).

I haven't bothered with centerfire rifles for the first few years of gun ownership. Just didn't know what I wanted in a system. After doing a ton of reading and trying out several of my military buddies stuff, I found that the weight shift to the rear of the weapon on bullpups went very far in offsetting the shit trigger they all are plagued with during range outings standing offhand and pointability. For home defense with a red dot, this system makes more sense to me than an m4 sbr which I just am too impatient to wait for. I like the ar platform for long shots though where the pointability of bullpups is rendered nearly irrelevant.

The large gap between barrel and scope in bullpups is something I have to adjust for. I am used to very close bore/scope distances...

The Trigger certainly isn't my Volquartsen set on my 22/45 or the 0.67 lb trigger on my Weirauch HW 75

In case anybody was curious, the Tavor trigger has a relatively smooth 1/4" take up maxing out at 2lbs on my RCBS (military version) and breaks at 11 lbs in another 1/8" roughly.

Subjectively, lets just say thank heavens I first learned on double action revolvers and trigger pulls greater than 12 lbs S&W 686+. I can see how people who are "spoiled" with 1.5lb rimfire triggers or 2.5-5 lb triggers in their M4s would hate any of the bullpups.

Triggers need to be tuned for what you plan to use them for. For shooting groups...then go for something lightweight (my savage is ~2lbs as is my 10/22). But if you are going ot use it for more competition 3gun stuff...a nice 2 stage with 4.5 or so or a single in 3.5-4.5 is awesome IMO. Light enough for a nice break, but heavy enough you wont fire during heavy breathing after running. For a true battle rifle...sure the 2 stage 4.5 guys are nice....but in the heat of battle you aint going to notice a 4.5 pound over a 10 pound.

or least the battle rifle stuff is what i have been told by friends who have been "over there". More worried about getting rounds down range than trigger creep or anything as they are slamming the trigger anyways. Same sort of goes for optics with them as well. Scopes are great but heat of the moment they all prefered a red dot/acog type where you just put dot on target and shoot. But again thats just two friends experiences.

As for me....Im not going to war nor really running any competitions. So lighter is great for me! I love my 3.5lb trigger in my 300 blackout And i am weird..i actually find the savage accutrigger to be one of the best triggers i have used. I just think its super crisp and light and the extra little "pre trigger" is amazing to me.

Pistol trigger wise...lets just say i need lots of work with pistols. When i went shooting with my dad and brother i found i could kick my brothers ass at 100-200 yards...even with his rifle shooting it for the first time ever (and first 30-06 ever). Shot my (then) best group of ~.6 inches at 100 yards (3 shot). But then we go to the pistol range (just 7 yard as 15 was crowded) and it was the opposite. My brother kicked my ass and made me mad! He was shooting my 226 way better than i could. He had the center of his target all shot out while i had shots all over the 6" ring. Just made me realize how crappy i am at pistols. Least it was all in fun and we decided we would make an awesome team. I take out zombies with the rifles..he uses the pistol...and we are both good enough to aid in each area when needed

The p226 required more training than a striker fired handgun in my experience. That DA/sa transition is quite a learning curve trying to get the first two shots repeatedly consistent in rapid fire. Particularly the first 12lb DA pull is tough at first. My wife has a kimber super carry ultra and that single action trigger didn't require much training at all to make nice 7yd groups.

I would say that my s&w 442 remains the most difficult pistol to get good groups at 7yds. If I pull the trigger super slow (4 second trigger pull), it groups fine. If I try to rapid fire, looks like a shotgun hit the paper at twice the range lol. It is the only handgun I have tried that I haven't been able to fully tame yet. I notice that I jerk the trigger consistently on the 442 where the end of the barrel twitches to the right and up (jerks high 1:30 position). I attribute this to my finger not being strong enough to quickly accurate the trigger so it drifts from using the pad to using the first knuckle. The 11lb long double action pull is brutal.
