I love living where I live where I don't have to worry about ranges. Just go into the national forest or the BLM areas and set up, and clean up your trash afterward.

Is that legal? In AZ while a lot of people (seriously a lot) go out into the desert and shoot it's tech illegal. That's the main reason I don't do it, for that 1 in 10000000000000 chance I'm shooting at 600+ yards and miss the jogger that's running into my target area. If something happened I'd be doing serious time. Too risky for me personally.

Yes it is. The only thing is that they dont allow tannerite here due to the fire danger, but when it is not fire season, it is only illegal if you get caught.

There is one federal LEO that can do anything for the entire eastern half of the state. It is akin to winning powerball for him to be finding you. He is mostly after people cutting firewood without permits.

Yes it is legal, of course you have to be safe. There are some stipulations, they vary by area, but in general you can shoot on BLM land.
That goes for BLM land in Arizona too.
http://www.blm.gov/az/st/en/prog/recreation/shoot.html

I'm not familiar with BLM land. I've only seen/been just randomly out in the middle of no where. I know there are a few state laws that prohibit shooting out in the desert, but again, not sure if that includes (prob not) BLM land.

Just wondering.. are you saying it's all legal unless you get caught?

No, just the use of tannerite. It is stupid to use the stuff in the heat of summer when it can start a fire, but I still use a ton of it in the winter.

You all seeing anything at Shot Show that's interesting?

The integrally suppressed Silencer Co 9mm looks cool, but looks too large for concealed carry.

http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2015...ncercos-all-in-one-suppressed-maxim-9-pistol/

I haven't seen anything ground breaking this year. Most of it is just evolutions of the current stuff.

I will say that I'm interested in this company "Coolfire". They're making a C02 version of the laser targeting system to simulate recoil in dry fire. I really like the idea behind it as I do think recoil management is the one area that needs to be addressed in dry fire. I also would much rather use my own trigger than one of the plastic molds I've seen. I think in a gen or two this will be really something. As it stands right now, I'm waiting for more reviews before I throw $400 at it.

From watching Youtube coverage the "coolest" thing I've come across is the Fostech Echo AR trigger.
I'm kinda bummed the gun channels I sub to are all putting out the SHOT coverage (well, not all channels, but my Feed is full of it). Bah.

I did "lol" at the Chiappa Triple Barreled Shotgun though, hahaha.

I dont know if anybody cares, but Sig now makes their P250 AND P290 in 380. Same bodies. You can use all your old accessories.

Also, the new Colt Mustangs now have rails.

The Chiappa had been around for a few years already. Looks nice but definitely a tad gimmicky.

What's so bad about shot coverage? Lots of new toys to check out

Just scored a used Kidd bolt and charging handle for $96, and found a Hogue thumbhole stock purple, for $102. The stock is the only new part of the build, Ruger's sold 5 million 10/22's, so there's a crap ton of used parts out there.

Stuff should start being delivered next week.

Sort of looking at the new S&W Victory, want to see how they stand up and for the price to drop a bit.

Am I odd in thinking the victory is a decent price for what it is? Or am I just used to expensive firearms?

No, it's a great effort at a good price point. They took the best ideas from the Mark III & Buckmark. Waiting for the typical discount off MSRP to kick in, it's only been out a month now.

The typical discount shops ($360-$375) are out OOS, the only ones in stock are the full retail price shops ($409).

I was looking at a Mark III, 22/45, target, but the Victory seems a heck of a lot easier to takedown for cleaning, and 3rd party accessories available at launch is good marketing.

Eh, new stuff is cool I guess but I haven't even checked out any of the SHOT videos on my YouTube subscriptions. Just not interested in the supposed "latest and greatest" I guess; maybe at some point I'll revisit them.

This is the "odd" shotgun I want to buy

https://youtu.be/A_o3YsUVAyQ

I fired one of those at my range. A couple was there and the man had it. I couldn't help but ask what it was. He then offered to let me fire it. It handled much better than I thought it would have. It's not going to win any awards for triggers or anything over a good shotgun. It does however win the "cool" factor. I only wish the couple was as nice. The whole thing took a turn when the wife asked my bride if we swung, and went downhill from there. It was one of the oddest things I've ever had happen at a range.

Trying a new kydex holster maker that is somewhat local to me, and my first holster from them arrived yesterday after a very short 5 day wait.

I wanted to get a light bearing hip holster for my FNX-45 tactical just for when I am out shooting, and maybe hiking around. I have really preferred paddle style holsters since I can remove them without taking my belt off, and I decided to order this KT-Mech Akela holster for the FNX. They have a ton of colors and patterns available it seems, so I got it in multicam just to see how it would look (its not like I am going to try to conceal this monster).

Looks good -

They also make a suppressor compatible version, which I am going to order here real soon, as my AAC Ti-rant 45m should be approved any day now. They need a picture of the can and everything to make one of the suppressor compatible ones, but here is what those look like -

I have been using bravo concealment and raven for my holsters, but unless you have a gun on their rush order list, they can take forever to get. This company only has a 2 week wait time, and you can expedite your order to the front of the line if you need it really fast. Looking forward to getting a couple more of these for various guns.

I also have a nice pelican case coming to make a nice hard case to hold all of my suppressors, mounts, pistons, paperwork and other stuff. Going to try to custom cut it and fit everything so I have a nice way to store them between the house and wherever I am going shooting.
