I'm fascinated by this new rifle from Ruger. If someone ends up with one, please let me know if you like it.

agreed, 1st prize. i have a mossberg MVP in 308 as my "precision" rifle (~600yds), but this would be awesome to have for really long range stuff while still keeping the 308 caliber.

granted you're probably going to drop like $2k on a scope alone for good enough optics...

I know an accu-sport rep, and he says do not pay a dime over $1,000 for that rifle, preferably wait for the hype to die down and pay $899 or thereabouts. There is a huge delta between dealer cost and manufacturer MSRP. He was thinking street price is going to be around $899.

I have no issue with that... provided both it and the rifle are capable of doing the stuff they claim.

And now I am, too.

Sorry?? If it makes you feel any better, I went through the same thing the other day when it was shown to me.

What the fuck is a 6.5 Creedmoor?
I'm told by people who've fired the round more than a few times, it's a really good bullet at distance. There's something in that spec that just works amazingly well. I really look forward to finding out for myself.

The Ruger rep I was talking to said they're expecting them to hit the streets around the $1k mark and stay there. They're really expecting great things for this beast. I'm budgeting around $1100 for it (taxes and all that). If and when I see it around there (I'm guessing really soon after I see it in the wild) I'll pick it up.. unless someone else gets it first and tells me how much of a fuckup it is.

Video where they explain it in more detail. This is also on the Ruger site I posted, but in case someone missed it, would rather see it on youtube.

If this Ruger precision rifle is about $1K, I will wait until November and run to Louisiana when they have the 2A sale (no sale tax on anything related to guns/ammo) and get me one in .308.

Buying one and SBRing it (legally) is on my mid-range bucket list, I want the Stargate gun dammit!

I can't lie, I've almost bought it more than a few times because of this reason. That and I have a thing about mixing up my safe. Every time I'm about to follow through with buying it, I end up shooting my buddies and I'm just not a fan of it. Once I combine that with the price of it, I just can't justify to myself the purchase... of course one day I've no doubt one will find it's way into my safe. I've issues collecting things as the 12K comics I'm inventorying will attest.

Same here. I spent the cash on what is somewhat of a novelty in the Five-seveN, I'm not sure I can bring myself to do it with the p90 in the near future.. Though it is on the wishlist.

My lovely Tavor:

I also put a MS4 QD sling on it. Damn, they're nice slings. They've definitely improved them since the MS1. They're a lot more durable now and the fabric is over 9000 times better than that soft crap that frays.

As for the optic, I decided to go with an EOTech EXPS 3-2. I was kind of leaning that way already, and a nice sale on holographics sights on Dvor shaved $50 off the price. I originally wanted just the XPS 3 but by the time I came back to the sale it was sold out. Bah. Actually, it'll be nice to have NV capability because I'm planning on picking up a set someday anyway.

Honestly you might as well just get an airsoft P90 for fun. The real thing is not that interesting to shoot. It has no recoil at all, basically feels the same as a .22 but ammo costs as much as .45 acp. Even full auto, it's not that much fun. A semi auto one extremely not worth it. Considering cost of the gun, SBR'ing, and ammo, is it really worth all that for basically a semi-auto .22?

It's a "collectible" to me. But I can imagine that shooting it is hardly "an experience."

Of course it's not worth it. But it's the Stargate gun!

Sent off my application for my FFL 03 C&R license today. My new safe made my collection look small, so maybe soon I can fill it up with some nifty historic guns. I think the first entry to my book will have to be an M1 from CMP.

Wow. I'm not sure what MSRP is, but with shipping and everything mine came to a little over $1700 from Bud's Guns.

I had went to Cabelas a couple months ago and asked them about Tavors, they said they'd have to look for one and then order it. They called me back a couple weeks later and said it would be $2,000. Fuck that noise.
