At least get something cool that will make the Americans here jealous (here the receiver is considered the firearm so there's no such thing as a "deactivated" gun unless it's chopped in half).

I'd love to have a real one of either of those. The SVD is possible to get here but they are $$$. The AN94 and Bison have never/will never be imported to the US in all likelihood.

I can't wait until I move to the US where I can purchase large quantities of proper firearms and be a real man.

TFP was direct and honest, while trollish he wasn't here simply for the enjoyment of pissing everyone else off.

Bollocks, TFP trolled by insulting people and got banned for it.

Hal is consistently polite and even tempered but manages to wind up more people to incandescent levels.
Hal is truly a greater troll.

Although I do think that it's unintentional.

Also if your going to get a gun that doesn't fire bullets why not get one that doesn't fire blaster rounds?

Did you know that a flame thrower is "more legal" (easier to obtain) than an assault rifle?

USA, man. Fuck yeah.

Nome of them are really doing it for me, but thanks for the suggestions, any pistols you'd recommend? Also, what cheap versions of 1911's are there?

I'm glad someone noticed.

This is probably the best suggestion I've had yet, I was considering the PKD Blaster from Blade Runner:

Got it!

I bought a deactivated Colt M1911A1... that turned out to be a 1918 M1911 Arsenal rebuild.

I'm really pleased it's a bit beaten up, but it's got loads of history and it's nice an old.

Yay me.

I know some of you guys don't like deactivated guns, but I'm pretty pleased, I haven't bought myself anything for a while and this cheered me up a bit. Also, those who hate the notion of a deactivated gun you'll be pleased to hear that all that's been done to it really is a bolt welded in the barrel and the firing pin has been filed down, not exactly ruined it.

why would an american be jealous of a non-firing gun?

how much did it cost? They go for like $1000 on the low end here in the US. You might be able to snag one for less than 1000 but its going to be beat to shit and whatnot.

oh and that is such a waste of an awesome and historical gun. I weep over that.

It was £650 = £1,015

So about the same price, I'm really pleased with it, and as for the was of a historical gun, it's not had that much done to it AFAIK...

If you make any changes to that, even just the grips, I will buy a ticket to UK and hunt you down! :whiste::biggrin:

Have no fear I spent the time, did the research so that I got the gun I wanted as it is, everything is just how I want it

Your thread is pretty pointless. A deactivated gun serves no purpose other than as a scale model of what that weapon would look and feel like. Now if you wanted to know which would shoot better, that would be a "constructive" thread as you would put it. Instead, you're asking for advice on what you should buy based on what essentially comes down to personal taste. Any response you would receive is pointless since your taste will differ from anyone else's here.

Once again, you're trolling hard and failing at it.

This. The sad thing is that he'll talk about not having lots of money in another thread. I wonder why, buying a gun when he abhors guns makes himself happy. Pretty sad and pathetic. Better to spend the money on helping others or save for a rainy day.

Maybe, if he spent more time with his imaginary fiance he wouldn't be spending so much time here.

You're late to the party, I already bought it.

I can disassemble it completely... I've no idea if I could reactivate it but even if I could I won't.

looks pretty cool =)
