I don't have a Warlock, but that is still something I don't understand. Has Blizzard ever tried to rationalize why they don't stack?

Anyone got a faster mirror for the new patch? Blizzard updater is slower than molasses. I'm pulling it from Fileplanet right now, but there is still a 20+ minute line. Can anyone host the patch once they get it, or have some good mirrors?

I have no clue, but it's very frustrating
I know i can spend at least 6 shards on a caster alone

This, among other things has given me a reason to reroll while waiting for further updates

The good news is that I'm getting it at a good 150KB/s from Fileplanet, after the wait.

Shards stacked in beta. Warlocks were way too powerful with them stacking. I think there is a good balance now.

Mages have a relatively severe bug affecting them sometimes. When an enemy is frozen and breaks free of the freeze, they appear to teleport right to their target. Even other party members sometimes see this. But in reality they are still running towards you, even though they appear to be on top of you and swinging. It really messes with a lot of tactics when it happens.

I can see what you mean, but IMO something else needs to be done.

This happened last night after I would gouge an enemy and my friend would use an ice blast (arcane missile, whatever it's called, I have no clue) and as soon as it touched the enemy, it would teleport right to him, it was really annoying.

Damn it, I was hoping they'd put in a fix so Hunters can use ANY weapon. LOL

That's not just mages. It happens to my rogue with sap or gouge too. I think it happens to my warlock with seduce, I don't remember whether it does or not.

Anyway, misery loves company right? Just know you're not alone.

Yeah, and a lot else has changed since beta too (not claiming to have been there for it personally). It isn't the shards that are balancing warlocks. Today's warlocks with and infinite supply of stackable shards would be fine, due to cooldowns, damage, other limitations etc. What's left now is all of the pain, none of the gain, especially for high level pvpers. Spend time and money to travel somewhere to farm shards off xp-able mobs, each single one costing an inventory slot, then travel to the pvp site. Then to keep the supply of shards in pvp is extremely difficult unless you limit their use to where it would be pretty much the same as if you didn't have them. Helping out a lower lvl guildie? No shards from those baddies either.

Seriously, when is the last time you were in a PvP or PvE situation and said "Man, you can tell that warlock's got shards, he's owning everything and everyone! "? Or any experienced duelist/pvper care to claim that it's suicide for anyone who takes on a warlock with his bags full o' shards?

I don't have a Warlock, but that is still something I don't understand. Has Blizzard ever tried to rationalize why they don't stack?
Hearing those who've played longer tell it, Blizzard explained that they thought it was "more fun" that way. Yeah, challenges/limitations can be fun, but in its current form it goes too far. Personally I think it was likely a balancing ingredient that got left in even as other debuffs were stacked on, an oversight Bliz doesn't want to admit to.

Anybody play it yet?

Rumor was that the cloth donation was a repeatable reputation quest for each race to allow easier to obtain cross-racial mounts. Any news on how much it raises your rep for cloth turn-ins?

lol does anyone have a non fileplanet or filefront mirror? I'm having a hell of a time getting this patch, the Blizzard downloader is completely worthless...

my understanding was that the cloth quest was not repeatable and the reputation gain barely noticeable.

edit: confirmed.

I thought I'd warn people about that cloth quest. I grinded for a bit in the Hinterlands to get 60 mageweave, got it, turned it in. I got 3700xp (not bad actually) and I think maybe a TINY reputation rise. I could hardly see it. Then I check again and wow, I can't donate mageweave anymore, only silk and wool. I have a very bad feeling that after donating wool and silk as well, it'll be nothing. As in, it doesn't appear to be repeatable.

from: http://www.livejournal.com/community/worldofwarcraft/1312558.html

unless it's a once ever so many days/hours thing...

haven't checked the official forums lately because of how slow they run after a patch.

I would wait for something more solid... it could easily be that it requires you complete each piece of cloth once before it is available again. Or as you say, once a day or something.

Also, these kinds of rep gains typically scale with level in WoW. I think it's possible that the rep gain on mageweave turn-in will be signifcantly higher for someone around level 40 or so. Like the centaurs in desolace. Do them at 40+ and you're grinding rep for hours. But do them at 35 and it takes FAR fewer Centaurs killed.

I hope it's repeatable anyway.

Even if it's a small rep gain, it's better than the morrowgrain rep quests they have now, that give 1 rep out of about 100000 needed per turn in when you're 60 (but reasonable gains at ~level 40).

Worst part about the Blizzard downloader? Ever since Star Wars Episode 3 was released to BitTorrent, Comcast has blocked traffic on all common BT ports.

So if you're a comcast customer, it's impossible to use the Blizzard downloader to download the game patch, since there's no way to change the ports it uses to try and transfer the file.

Comcast isn't the only ISP blocking common BT ports - but it's what I use as my home ISP and I was really stumped when I was trying to grab a patch the other day.

LOL.

Blizzard tech support must be going CRAZY right now then. That is so funny. Freaking Comcast. I'm so happy I am not a Comcast customer in any way shape or form.

The Blizzard downloader does suck, but I log in every maintenance day morning just to see if there is a patch. If so, it downloads while I'm showering and eating, etc... Download speeds seem quite reasonable BEFORE the maintenance period is over. I downloaded the patch this morning at about 30-40k/sec.

I still think they should AT LEAST add a feature to teh downloader that allows people to cap upload bandwidth at 90-95% so they can actually use their connection while downloading, as well as a feature to run the downloader after the patch has been applied at like 30% upload so you can run it while you're playing and provide some bandwidth to people.

I wonder if running BT could be considered running a server on your connection, and if ISPs that disallow that could potentially use that as a reason to terminate your contract. Blizzard downloader would disappear real quick if people started getting threatened by ISPs for "serving" files via BT.

Considering they have been nerfed by every previous patch, this is a welcome change.

Nothing too major, but at least most of them are positive. Looking forward to my respec next level that will let me take advantage of the Siphon Life change.

Oh, I don't really PvP so that long overdue and massive change to allow soul shards from honorable kills is huge!

they nerfed them so bad that they had to buff them so they could renerf them

Mage Armor - Now has a new, unique icon.

Great all the other classes get fixed bugs new abilities all we get is a new icon for a spell that most mages barely use.

Mages were pretty balanced and bug-free before - take it as a compliment.

What happened to the AoE not hitting totems bug? Does blizzard even consider this a bug?

That would hurt shamans. Blizzard does not allow shamans to be hurt

I just played on Warsong Gulch...

Amazing, one of my most fun moments in gaming ever. It's completely different from the Tarren Mill zergfests...you actually need team work and strategy before acting. One mistake or someone not playing well can cost you dearly. You have to decide whether you send a small force to take the flag, with a second line to escort them back and leave a garrison for defense, or to go blazing guns and send your whole team there, leaving your base undefended. Both can work, depending on the circumpstance.

For those who don't know, Warsong Gulch is a game of capture the flag, much like a FPS, though with a slower pace. The map is quite big, and each team has a base with the flag deep inside it.

If the player carrying the flag gets killed, he drops it and the opposing team can recover it by right clicking it. If you die, you are transported to a mini graveyard at your base where you are revived (no durability penalty) after a 20 second cooldown. You can loot other player's corpses for money and (Warlocks) shards.

You even get a stats screen (a la Halo 2) showing who did the most of what, and giving honour bonuses to those topping the charts.

The only downside is that the population imbalance ensures that there are always 500+ alliance on queue, but sometimes not enough Horde to fight them. You can form groups before entering the Battleground and your entire team will be transported there, so that you not always have to be in random groups.

All in all, an excellent change of pace for the game. I haven't tried Alterac Valley yet (you have to be lvl. 51+ and I'm 47) but it's probably really epic.

Awesome.

Finally a real reason for people to move to horde. I'm so sick of those whining alliance pansies who "can't" play Horde because horde are not "pretty" enough or horde are too "evil".

Note that I am not lumping all alliance into that category, just that those were the most prominent two responses I got when I asked people why they chose alliance when I played my alliance toons (5 alliance toons are levels 13-30, 4 horde toons is levels 33-49). I got sick of people who were so vain or not capable of really role-playing so I moved to Horde... Best move I ever made.

Finally a penalty for playing the 'popular' side. Hopefully this will be the start of server populations becoming more even.
