Did anyone else who plays a hunter notice that our dps has been decreased significantly in PvE (and possibly PvP, although I don't participate in PvP enough to really know)?

My range power is in the facinity of 733. My damage is listed as 256-306. Monday pre-patch I was hitting for an average of 280-300. My average hit yesterday (post-patch) was 150-170 (often hitting for as low as 100-110) against lvl 46-50 mobs which are green to me at level 54. Also, my crits (on a standard shot, not aimed shot) went from in the 600-700 range to in the 350-450 range. It appears to me that in their attempts to scale down the damage done by the scattered shot talent all of the range attacks were scale down by 40%-50%.

Granted the patch message stated that defense against range attack was now going to be calculated by defense skill and not level, but does that justify hitting green mobs for well under 100 damage of the stated damage range?

nerf or bug, who knows. Blizzard keeps tweaking one thing to fix it and just creates another bug in it's wake.

Another new bug is with the 1.4 patch windfury fix for Shaman. Now basically it does 1 less windfury attack than it should, and in the same stroke they somehow removed 1 flurry attack for the speed bonus too....

Have a 60 hunter I have not played in over 2 months. But however have a lvl60 hunter friend that plays.

Based upon his testing last night of him and his pet's damage output...the overall DPS of a ranged/pet specc'ed hunter has dropped by a good 40% combined with the last 2 patches. Items in point that helped with the lowering DPS:

1) Pet DPS bug that was intruduced on test server and was not fixed by time it went live.
2) Fix of bug causing bags to increase attack speed 2x of normal. (There was also the bug that having a quiver and ammo pouch equipped at the same time gave a 4x exploit IIRC). This was a legit bug fix...one I never knew existed, but I can accept this one.
3) Changing damage/hits from level difference between you and target, to now be based off their defense/armor.
4) Change of most items/spells that gave +attack power now only boost melee attack power instead of both melee and ranged.

Based upon all these....I would say now that the hunters are 2nd from the bottom now in effectiveness, only losing to Warlocks.

Seems that shammies and rogues are the least mucked with lately. Both either were either dinged on the blanket CC changes or were buffed more (dagger rogues).

A good indicator of which classes are "more loved" by Blizzard is to check their class formums and see how many posts have a response (or lack thereof if "hated" by Blizzard) from a blue.

A blue response to a thread in the Warlock forum comes about once every two weeks.

It invariably says the same thing.

"We have noted your concerns are are working on some exciting things you will see soon - possibly in the next patch."

Then they nerf warlocks with each patch and don't comment...

it's legit, but it's what they based the hunter's dps on to balance the game, and by fixing it they threw all that off without rebalancing it. one of the reasons i quit playing. it was hard enough getting in a group as a lvl 60 hunter before this, afterwards it was near impossible. made the game kind of pointless.

nice to see they are ruining hunters even more. play a shaman if you want to play a class that gets much love, otherwise you live with nerfs and bugs.

edit: or not, looks like they're bugging up shaman now too. amazing!

all of the nerfs/lack of bug fixes is exactly why i stopped playing my hunter and rolled a priest...

only thing i use my hunter for now is farming for cash and group pvp...

Heh that is why I included the the "lack of responses" part on the forums. Even though I mainly play a priest, I tend to check most of the class threads on the main WoW forums (cept for maybe druid and shaman).

One thing that I was appalled at how little the devs (blues) respond to warlock threads. Even though I do not play a warlock....I have a couple of them in my 200+ guild (out of the 200...8....yes 8 of them are warlocks) that I have grouped with. Warlocks are in the most need for some Blizzard loving by far.

While this may have decreases dps, I never noticed the change since I never had a quiver and bullet bag at the same time. I was perfectly happy with my dps when I was hitting in the damage range that the game says I should be hitting in. But hitting for 50% of the stated minimum damage in the damage range is L.A.M.E.

I have also noticed that pets now can no longer hold agro. If I don't want to out agro my pet (with maxed growl for my level + cower disabled) I am forced to not attack a mob until it is down to about 75% health and also not use any of my skills. If I toss in a serpent sting or any other skill the mob almost instantly starts running at me and completely ignoring my pet as if growl was disabled and cower was enabled.

Has anyone else noticed that?
