What next?
Probably just a couple more MHz and maybe some 3:4 CPU:RAM action.
My current temps under load are:
Core Temp 56C
Case Temp 35C
Ambient Temp 30C (a guess... it's damn hot in here though)
I'm running at 1.65V right now and I don't want to go any higher with Vcore because Asus Probe is showing it as 1.712 - 1.728 (fluctuates on Asus Probe) when not under load, and it drops to 1.648 under load. The 1.728 is making me slightly uncomfortable. So I'm not going higher on Vcore (in fact, I'm going to lower it a bit if I can while sticking at 166MHz.) Should my Vcore be changing that much?

Will update as I move forward. All I can say for now is I totally love the 1.6A / P4B533 combo.
Just for clarification -- P95 didn't die after those times -- I stopped testing after those times because I was too eager to move on I suppose I should be more thorough but I'm mostly concerned about getting to my top speed.

Great news! I just installed my 1.60a yesterday.... I put ASII on it with my Zalman 6500cu (DEAD SILENT)... it runs around 54 under load right now... but I need to drill some side holes in my case (Elan Vital T10) because the Zalman uses a side mounted case fan instead of the traditional on-top high speed fan. The loudest thing in my system is my Maxtor HD, by far (which is fairly quiet)!

I too plan to shoot for 150mhz/2.4ghz That is my goal... though I'd be happy with 133mhz/2128mhz.

I can't wait until the ASII sets and I can overclock... muhahaha... the 133mhz jumper is calling me in my dreams.

Unfortunately, it didn't pass Prime95 for very long at 160FSB on default. Everything else worked fine, but I figure there's no reason to leave it failing when I still have .2 Vcore to give. So I'm testing it at 1.6V and then I'll move up a few more MHz on the FSB.

i couldnt even run 3dm2k1 at that speed/vcore.

very nice - you will be getting a comfy and cool 166fsb, or higher

(dont go over 1.75v as seen in windows)

Just thought I'd chime in with my results. Not anywhere near as impressive but I'm happy with it.

I can only get it stable up to 137fsb (2192) at default voltage.

150fsb requires 1.65v to be 100% stable. It can run Prime95 day and night and every benchmark I can throw at it with no issues, so this is probably what I'll settle on.

I've tried to do 155fsb but it isn't 100% stable even with 1.7 vcore, and I don't want to go beyond that. I've tried relaxing my memory to 1:1 just to make sure it wasn't holding me back (they're samsung chips on a generic pcb, so I don't know how far they can go).

At 150fsb (2400) system temp is 30C, CPU idle is 38C, and CPU load is 52C. My vcore fluctuates quite a bit too. Set in the BIOS at 1.65v but it often reads 1.7 to 1.72 or so after booting into Win2k. At load it drops to somewhere between 1.63 and 1.66v. A little discomforting if you ask me.

I'm wondering if my PSU may be holding me back, but at this point I think I may just be nearing the limit on this CPU. I'm on a 300W Sparkle that has lasted me through 3 different systems and has been rock solid. I have 4 18GB Cheetahs along with a 7200rpm Maxtor HD and a plethora of other things, so I'm afraid with this new P4 and its power demands I may be stressing the PSU a bit. With my 1.2 Tbird system all the voltages were pretty much spot on. Now with this P4 my +12V rail fluctuates around 11.52 to 11.94, usually sitting at 11.712 or 11.776. I realize that's still within the +/- 5% margin, but with my AMD setup the lowest it would go was 11.85 and would usually settle around 11.98 to 12.10. I can definitely see that this P4 pulls more on the +12V.

This 300W Sparkle PSU didn't have the ATX12v plug either, so I had to use a molex connector on the Asus EZPlug thing. Thank god for that.

Any thoughts?

5/20 pack date seems to be at the extreme ends of 1.6A...either it is a DOA or a Golden chip....:|

The actual voltage is the voltage listed in asus pcrobe....Asus mobos tend to overvolt..... .06v seems about what others are getting...

If you don't trust it pick up mbm5.1.9.1 and see what it reads....These are correct, not what you set in bios....

It is like asus knows the vcore will dip under load and tryies to take that into account...You set 1.65v and under load it does 1.65v...Maybe this is Asus reason...

Hmmm..Maybe someone should tell me what arse MSI and Epox have their heads shoved up...Setting 1.5v on my mobo will result in 1.44v idle and around 1.41v load....

On my Epox 4G4A+ I currently have my Vcore set to 1.625 but under PC Health Status
in the bios it shows my Vcore is 1.68 sometimes dropping to 1.66. MBM5 shows
Core 0 at 1.52 and Core 1 at 1.62. Sandra 2002 shows CPU core voltage at 1.52
and Aux Voltage at 1.62.

How come Sandra is showing my core voltage as 1.52? Isn't the core voltage
the same thing as Vcore voltage?

Anyway I am running my 1.6A at 2.64 Ghz 165FSB using the 4:5 mem ratio. I have ran
Prime95 for 1 1/2 hours with no problems. I assume the Vcore voltage reading of 1.66/1.68
in the bios is the correct voltage. If so why is MBM5 and Sandra 2002 reading it incorrectly?

I've been using Asus PCProbe the whole time At BIOS setting 1.65V, It's overvolting .062V while idle, but under load is undervolting .002V. Because it's at 1.712V idle, I'm reluctant to go higher than 1.65V. Everything says keep it under 1.75V and some people even say keep it at or under 1.7V, so I'm not sure what to do. I haven't had much chance to mess around with it since this morning (had to install some software, the soundcard, and speakers... TB Santa Cruz with Z560s. I'm liking them.)

I did try to get 3:4 so my RAM would run faster, by using dipswitch 6 on the motherboard. However, it wasn't POSTing at all with 166FSB, no matter what I set the RAM settings to, so I am holding off on that for now.

terminalmind..Sandra has a known issue in reversing the two...the 1.52 is your agp voltage..If you can change that bump it upp .1v and see what I mean...

You also have a 4g4a and maybe epox has chnaged a few things...the temps on a 4g4a also seem more in line with the lower reporting asus mobos...

I have a 4BDA mobo....

I have heard some goofy reporting by pc health as well...may want to try to flash to latest bios if not already...

My pc health, mbm5.1.9.1 and sandra (when reading it correctly) all agree in temps and vcore...

Good philosphy...You are already at 1.71v so live with what you can get stable at that vcore...

Duvie Thanks for the info. I am reluctant to use the latest bios since I have
read that other people had problems overclocking with it. If the 1.68 Vcore
reading in the bios is accurate i don't want to push it much higher.
I can live with a 1 Ghz overclock.
