Nice setup. I should have my build complete and OC'ing by early next week. Aiming for a solid, stable 4GHz on air.

Nice results, I'm sure you could reach 450FSB no problem with that board and CPU which would yield around 4ghz. BTW what thermal compound did you use? Some MX-2 could drop the temps a few degrees if thats what your after.

Just got mine together today. Using a MSI Neo2-FR as well.
455x9 4095hmz @ 1.35v in bios. Orthos load temps through core temp of 49/52c using CoolerMaster Hyper 212. Using 5:6 memory divider so the ram is 1092mhz at 5-5-5-12 timings and 2.1v.

Have not really stability tested yet other than a quick 45 minute Orthos run.

Mine is on an mATX for the time being.. (P5E-VM HDMI) It's quite capable, but the vDroop is beyond belief. Never seen anything like this. (both using on-board GPU and a discreet GPU)

It does 4.0GHz (9x444) but I need to set 1.42V in the BIOS, which drops to 1.37 in windows, then again drops to 1.32 under load. That's a full 0.1V drop from the BIOS! Icing on the cake is that I had the 'Voltage Damper' thingy enabled - which supposedly help reducing vDroop. My chip shows very strange behavior according to core temp 0.96. While Idling, two cores are about the same temps, but once fully loaded, one core is almost 10C hotter than the other. Not sure if it's the board or chip.

Bigger joy was, to be honest, that G35 was capable of handling all kinds of 1080p.

The +10ºC on one Core issue might come from the amount of paste/compound which might be more concentrated on one side.

New nightly run. Now at 3.9ghz stable. I will shoot for 4ghz now of course!

I edited my OP. I am using AS5. It had been a while since I purchased "premium" paste. I was aware that there was somthing better. Thanks for the tip!

Yeah, I would have Orthos run for maybe two hours before it errored. I don't trust it now unless it is 5+ hours. sigh...

For some reason, when I increase the voltage my vdrop is much less. So maybe at higher voltage levels it doesn't matter. I am also happy to report that my old OCZ 520w PSU it still running strong!

Sounds about where I got my first E8400. Had to set 1.38V in the BIOS to get somewhere around 1.33-1.35 in CPU-Z to reach 3.9 stably. Got a new chipset cooler and some MX-2, so I'm going to see if bumping the NB voltage helps stabilize me at lower CPU voltage settings. I've got another E8400 from Tankguys sitting in a box, and will throw that in my system as soon as I'm done final testing.

Hardware:
CPU: E8400 Retail (SLAPL) Q745A567
Cooler: Stock (Full Height) Intel HSF
Mainboard: Asus Maximus Formula SE (X38)
Ram: Crucial Ballistix (2 x 1GB) DDR2 1066

Settings:
CPU Voltage: 1.275v (after vdroop 1.256v)
CPU FSB: 450*9 or 500*8
Memory: 1:1 at 450 or 500 MHz

*****************

Stock speed: vcore: 1.10v (lowest setting on my board) - Prime & Orthos stable

*****************

My E8400 with the above motherboard settings runs kind of hot with a stock Intel HSF, with CoreTemp reporting 46 at idle and 65 under max load w/ Orthos and SuperPi running simultaneously.

When I get my cooler back tomorrow I plan to push this chip as far as I can while remaining under 1.40v. Regadless, 4050 MHz @ 1.256v is still a good starting point.
