I don't see how this is Al Gore's fault. I can't imagine he was responsible for gathering all the footage used in the film, or that he knowingly used copyrighted, CGI footage.

You're quite wrong. Every sensible method of recount saw Gore winning. As the times were post-9/11, the media wasn't too comfortable with that, and invented some ways to count where Bush won, too, and ran the story with misleading headlines. You really should get your facts a little straighter before posting.
The legal standard in Florida was 'where the intent of the voter could be determined'. For example, a common problem was voters both writing in Gore and choosing him on the ballot, because the ballots were somewhat confusing. In that case, the intent was clearly for Gore; the vote did not count, but would have counted under the recount rules.

How can one present a documentary with any lies and expect to be taken seriously?

What is there to gain by bashing on Gore? Last I checked, he isn't running for office.Move along folks...nothing to see here but political grandstanding and bashing the other side over any desperate string that can be grabbed on to.
But I think it is fair game to challenge the documentary he championed, particularly if it used fabricated footage for emotional impact...intentional or otherwise.
I applaud Gore for elevating the environment as a topic for debate...but the use of fictional footage in a documentary...there is some irony, and humor, in that discovery, even if it wasn't intentional...to an extent, it places AIT at the Michael Moore la la land end of the spectrum.
If you look at the clip thats used its just a flyby describing what the area up there looks like. It was not footage showing destruction or anything detrimental. It was basically the same thing as showing a CGI tree and saying " there are trees, they are brown and have green tops" People are just looking for stuff to try and cloud the subject matter instead of actually confronting the subject matter. Watch for this ploy, its fairly common. Same way that every discussion of Michael Moore starts with him being fat. Why discuss the subject when you can smeer the messenger...

Yeah you're right. Lets give him all the good publicity and ignore the bad.

But but Gore won a nobel peace prize for this and by raising awareness it is worth his lies!
So it is all worth it.
Please enlighten us as to what Bush will win a prize for... other than one in a Cracker Jack box?
And please tell us what Bush has to do with this? Or is that autobot program kicking off again?
Bag on Gore all you want... but I will bet he did more good for humanity than Bush.. who care about some silly picture ....
Look at those Yellow Cake papers we used to kill Iraqi citizens with.... written by a UK High School student IIRC??

Good point.
I get it, if the GWB admin used false pictures of WMD sites to justify a war, it's bad. But when Al Gore uses false pictures to justify his MMGW claims, it's OK.
Nope, no double standards or hypocricy here. [/sarcasm]
