Check craigslist...I see plenty.

Very very few in my area (Vegas). I did see this Suzuki VZ800. Seems like a decent deal for a cruiser.

Looks similar to listings in NY - Craigslist tends to have mostly dirtbikes and really old cruisers. eBay has the newer, higher quality stuff.

There are also some dealers in my area who randomly pick up used ones, and reduce prices on last year's models, but the selection is obviously pretty weak. But, depending on what you're after, check the yellow pages, too!

I definitely have my eye on the Yamaha V-Star Classic at this point, and they're all over the place

I love my Honda Magna and I get between 46-52mpg depending on how I ride. I paid $2500 for it 4 years ago. I would really love to get a Honda Shadow A.C.E. though. From what I've seen, you can't beat the reliability of the Hondas. If you haven't ridden much, it might be better to start out on an older, cheaper bike just to get the hang of riding and so you don't feel as bad if/when you lay it down. When my friend and I started riding, his dad (a cop who has ridden for 30+ years) told us "There are two kinds of bikers. Those who have crashed and those who are going to crash."

Here's one that already sold for $3000, looks like a hell of a steal

Man, buy a real bike. Cruisers are gay. If you're gonna buy an ugly pos, you might as well go all the way and buy a harley.

Tell us what qualifies you as an expert on bikes and style? A rider should get a bike that can deliver the experience he is looking for. Short hops around town are fine for sport bikes but will suck if the intent is to put down serious miles in one shot. I've ridden with sport bikes and each time we stop they start massaging their wrists and hands after leaning on them for more than 30 minutes on the highway.

I'd liike to learn myself, but there aren't any MSF classes in my area...

I don't have a liscense yet, but outside of the state pamphlet, I don't know what else it requires (it doesn't even mention a nonwritten test). springtime is great though.
