Right now I have it running at 3.2GHz @1.344V. Idling near high 30s or low 40s. 67C max with full load. Not bad without feeding the CPU over 1.35V.

Either I have a very good "GO" processor or I've got a good mother board P35 MSI NEO-2 FIR. My Q6600 runs at stock voltage 1.25v at 3.2Ghz ultra stable. I had it running at 3.3Ghz until it crashed playing Flight Simulator X.

Yeah, I consider my chip only decent. Yours and others make me jealous.
Oh and running on 680i, so I can always blame it on Nvidia! haha

UPDATE - Lapping the CPU and HS helped a little (3C lower but paste not cured yet). Am running now at 3.4GHz (425x8) with 1.408V (actual). Orthos 8hrs stable so far. Think I will keep it.

guess i need to get a new mobo. i'm running the latest bios. i was hoping i could hold on to this one for at least a year. i had my E6700 up to 3.9 with it, so i was hoping i'd at least get the quad to 3.6.

aigomorla, it's G0 stepping and as i already stated, it's watercooled. i think my prime95 temps should be a clear indication in itself.

so should i be investing in a p P35 based motherboard?

Your speedfan temps are likely wrong, id use whatever monitoring app came with your mobo.

Speedfan says im at ambient when the mobo monitor says im at 51C.

speedfan reports the same temp as asus pc probe, which is what comes with the board. the bios itself actually reports even lower temps. if TAT worked with vista, i'd use those temps, but i can't imagine speedfan is THAT far off.

Usually about 15C, read the threads talking about speedfan correction.

If it matches up with bios youre fine though, what block are you using?

yeah, the temps match up pretty close. i don't know 100% sure because i obviously can't access the bios at the same time. when i reboot it though and check, it's within a degree or 2 though.

i'm running the koolance cpu-300 water block. i'm going to order the swiftech apogee gtx though i think when i get my new mobo though. looks like an even nicer block. i gave my old gigabyte watercooling kit to my dad which had a crappy block, this just gives me a reason to upgrade his and mine now.

Speedfan is wrong (reports wrong T-junction)

Coretemp works fine in Vista for me, run as mind or compatbility mode (at least find what your t-junction is and add that offset to speedfan)

core temp does not work. are you running x64 or x86? driver failed to load no matter what compatibility is set at and run in administrator mode.

asus pc probe, which comes with the mobo, reports the CPU as 16C. speedfan is reporting 23C for core 1 & 2, 18C for 3 & 4. left the windows open last night since it was nice and cool. lower ambient temp for the win!

My Q6600 G0, will do 9X400 easy.

on a gigabyte P35-DS3R

I set it to 1.6 volts in the bios.
north bridge at +0.3v
FSB at +0.3v

The ram I set it to 2.5 multiplier,
and voltage at +0.7v

And at 3.6 Ghz it's orthos stable.

UPDATE (last night)

I ran Orthos X4 for each core , it ran 7 hours straight with no errors.

I've got my q6600 G0 to go 3.6 without too much trouble..

i use the ASUS P5K Premium board. All i did was set the FSB to 400, and the rest to auto. I'll to some more tweaking later on to fine tune it. Just need to make sure it's stable and all that.

I got the ThermalRight Ultra 120.
Load temps were 79°C at the hottest. Little on the hot side, but only 54 in games.. no problems..
