It's a F2P PUBG game with 60 people (20 teams of 3) dropped on an island. Your trio must win... just like hunger games. If you're familiar with PUGB games, what's different?

• If you can't stand building crap that is Fortnite (their 1v1 fighting was absurd- building ramps & box each other, wtf.), this game is all gun playhe original PUGB with some Overwatch-esque hero/class choices mixed in, each bring their own unique kit of healing, smoke grenade, grappling, etc. And they all get their ultimate ability to use which takes some time to charge.
• It's pretty well polished. Matchmaking is just 1-click and it only takes 90 seconds to battle - I timed it. That's an amazing feat - that includes all hero selection, marquee time, 60 players loading, map loading, etc.
• Free to play and microtranscations don't affect gameplay. They're just cosmetics.
• You are auto-matched with 2 strangers and experience is overall positive! You can middle-click EVERYTHING to communicate anything without saying a word. It's incredibly well done.
  • Click a spot on map, either informing to go there or mark enemy. This is so cool You don't have to frantically mic to your squad where the shots are coming from.
  • Click on any objects on map, it describes it to the team - (supply crate here, or someone opened this crate here, pick up this gun/ammo/all items on the ground).
  • Click any items or stats on your inventory, you request that exact thing to the team. Just so damn smart.

I have an aging mid-tier system and this game makes it painful maxed out (30-60 fps). After bringing it down and down, I wanted gameplay > visuals, so I put everything on LOW. I now get a healthy 65-120~ fps with fast vsync on. I can frag just fine.

• i7-3770, GTX 1060 6GB (lol still retails $300), 8gig RAM, SSD)

I know Overwatch is a game of different scale, but that game is so purdy and well polished with max graphics at 120fps on my PC. Quite frankly Apex Legend's art direction is bit derpy.

It's not a bad game. Probably the best of the BR crop of games. The netcode is hot garbage though. Makes gun play interesting though, you bum-rush every fight to get right into their chest with a shotgun, a wingman or anything with spread (I see you new havoc rifle). Even in an open field, just keep moving and sliding and no one can hit you.

I can't say I feel the same way about the net code. I see some jerky people here and there but overall it's good. I very rarely have any questionable moments. The game has no hit scan weapons which is abnormal and you have to lead a bit with everything as the distance increases.

Not bad, but it's really great with people you know. It's also an easy game to pick up, but like many things it's hard to master. I've noticed there are gamers who have games for hours everyday. Well, I don't have the luxury to game for 16 hours a day.

Yea for a game that's only been out a few weeks, it's crazy that some of these guys have 1k+ kills etc. I've been playing it off and on for like an hour a pop a couple days out of the week. It's fun, but I can see how it'd be more fun playing with friends.

Was playing last night and personally saw my first cheater. I figured I would see more of them by now. Typical snap to player aim, trying to shoot through objects to hit and never missing.

I got my first W last night. Squad mates were down, had 1 guy left so we were going at it pretty good. He/she was using a shotgun and tried to get in close and I ended up melee'ing him in the middle of a reload. Wish I recorded it lol.

Rant: One of the reasons I've shied away from these types of games is the immense amount of bunny hopping. When I first started playing FPS online, one of the communities I played in banned bunny hopping so that's how I got accustomed to playing. Now it pisses me off to no end lol. I wish they implemented some sort of energy countdown to minimize the jumps.

I haven't actually seen any of that yet. It feels like something the dev will eventually patch out. I know they've made statements that give me the impression that circumventing movement restrictions isn't something they'll tolerate.

Good to know there's hope! It's pretty rampant when I'm on, admittedly it's only for about an hour every other day.

Hit registration is a serious problem. I frequently see shots from squadmates that go right through players center mass. I think the Havoc rifle is hitscan.

Possibility. I know sometimes the match making service will dump me onto a server with 200+ ping. I can tell right away when it does that and I leave the match. The havoc rifle shoots a blue/white projectile. The hop up on it turns it into a single shot charge up rail gun style.

Apparently just the charge beam is hitscan.

Maybe I've just realized that characters and story define me as a gamer more than Battle Royale does. And that is why I roll my eyes every time is see APEX, Fortnite and Pubg as the most viewed games on Twitch.
But to each his own and I respect what everyone wants since there was a time I was addicted to league of legends, so who knows?

Try dropping into a crowded spot with everyone else. Just follow the mass of people landing in the same spot. There's something to be said for the mad dash to find anything to keep yourself alive, finding that shotgun then turning around and becoming the hunter.

I understand that people have a wide variety of preferences for games but I'm trying pretty hard to think of any multiplayer only game where story and characters matter. Doesn't matter the genre, as soon as you play through once they're not important anymore. None of the top Twitch games for the last couple of years have what I would call a strong story or character development. That would generally be a single player game.

Like already mentioned, if you drop on top of a group you'll either win or lose right away. But just in general, you're not going to run around for 30min not finding someone to kill. Most matches last roughly 20mins total. You can tell where groups land by watching during the drop. The game is also very good at audio cues for fire fights. You can hear gun shots from a very long distance which allows you to actively push that point if you want.

The only common scenario that leads to not seeing opponents is when the drop leader purposely drops on the opposite side of the map. It helps to make suggestions to encourage people not to do that. But if it does happen and you don't want to play that way then just leave the match and join another. I'd say close to 50% of the randoms I play with purposely drop into areas that are heavily contested.

The trick is to drop hot zone adjacent, where you might have one or two squads with you to take out, gear up quickly, and push into the hot zone.
