It's that time of year to choose your plans for 2021. Was curious how much you guys are paying for your insurance plans. My company actually halved the cost for us for 2021 since they'll be subsidizing more of it, but I'm on a high-deductible Bronze plan for $300/mo. for the whole family. Annual cost is just under $4k/yr. Deductible for non-preventive care is $6600/family. I'm taking advantage of the HSA free money too. Assuming U.S.

2 years ago my insurance came in handy as I needed 2 unforeseen surgeries costing over $75k, on paper. Ended up something like $5500 out of pocket.

A touch over 300 a month a think for medical. My dental zip code went from rate group 1 to 5 so it almost doubled. Something like 100 a month or so if I keep it.

I'm at $325/mo for employee/children silver plan, with a family deductible of $16,300.
The silver plan is nice because my kid's $1,500/mo medication is now $80 for a 3 month supply, and blood tests are covered if I go to the right facility (before, I was paying $2k+ year just for blood tests).

$111 per paycheck for my family plan. Paycheck x 26 for yearly cost of $2886 equals monthly cost of $240.50

It's our "Bronze" plan. Mostly go with these just so I can invest in an HSA.

Next year were splitting it up - fucking employers and their stupid clauses of "If your spouse has coverage through their employers then your spouse has to go with them or pay a penalty of $1500" or something like that...

My silver plan is going up to around $520 a month for a single guy. I'm a 1099 so no employer is helping me out. I had some health issues this year so may require surgery next year, not a time to downgrade the old insurance plan. This country is nuts.

$0 for myself. My wife gets her + kids for $0, both are HSA plans, $1500 deductible. I get $750 contributed to HSA by my employer.

I really don't use it outside annual checks. Maybe 1-2 urgent care visits a year.

My work used to show their contribution amount, but I can't find it.

I have a Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO plan through my employer, $5000 deductible. He pays half, my share will be around $400/mo with the latest increase next month. My GF is retired and on Medicare so this is just me.

I am on the Amerihealth Bronze plan. Out of pockets are higher, but I'm also only paying $35 a month. In Jan, I'll be on the same plan but thru the state of NJ.
My monthly payment will be $0.33 cents. I might have a job with a school district, so my plan will change from bronze to gold which will be awesome. Paymets will be $40 a month.

$330/month for two. $0 deductible, somewhere around $20-30 copay depending on doctor. It's an HMO so I need a referral for everything and need to pay the copay again at the specialist but then anything the specialist recommends is covered. So I paid $30 at a spine clinic to cover initial visit, X-rays, MRI, diagnosis and two back injections

New employer, so switched from Kaiser (employer doesn't offer), to a BCBS plan. Myself, $60/month, $20 co-pays, 2k deductible (not for annual visit), and gives me an HSA somehow, so that's nice. First time for me, yay!

Think my employers put in like 60-70% of the cost. There was an offer for me to take in my own plan and they bump the no-match monthly contribution to 401k by an additional $160/month, but it isn't worth it with the plans available on MD marketplace right now.

I was "unemployed" for about 3 months, and the temporary marketplace Kaiser plan I selected was hilarious: $260/month (got some federal assistance, I think it's at $310) bronze plan, $6k deductible, 50% co-pays (lol!). I picked it because HSA available, and would have been my first time for that, but I never got around to opening it and contributing to it, but now I'm set up at work and all is much better.

I've been with Kaiser though for...about 11 or 12 years from CA and here in MD, so not sure what that will be like here.

...that reminds me, I need to figure out my PCP, and where my clinic/hospital will be, lol.

FYI - you can do HSA contributions for a given year based on how long you had a high-deductible plan. So if you had a High deductible plan for 9 out of 12 months of the year, you can contribute (presuming you're single?)...

$3550 (Maximum single contribution to HSA for 2020)
*9/12 = $2662.50

It doesn't have to be from your paycheck - though with paycheck deductions you save FICA taxes (Social Security / Medicare)

Currently ~$50/mo for a $2500 deductible, in-network only plan. Never got close to the deductible, but it has still provided me with substantial discounts on a preventative medication (since you can get some coverage pre-deductible) as well as a visit to urgent care last year (since you get the negotiated rate instead of the list price). According to my W2, my employer kicked in almost $6k.

Next year, my costs go up a little: switching to a $1500 deductible plan which also has out-of-network coverage. $125/mo, but the increased cost will be more than offset by tax savings of using the company sponsored HSA which comes with the plan and their yearly contribution.
