so, what are your annual parking fees at school? Here, it was $191. next year, it goes up to $406, and the year after is getting a $506 proposal. Ain't that just fine and dandy. All this to pay for the construction of the new arena, and more housing, and a new garage (not big as big as the current two on campus i hear).

Of course, the freshmen who will be using it aren't suffering the pay, cause freshman and sophomores aren't allowed to have cars.. seniors are getting kicked off of on campus housing (they will only need commuter permits), leaving the juniors to pay out the ass for no real benefit (well, the new arena will be done next year.. but blah, that doesn't help me.) To top it off, they changed the junior status to 60 credits, and i'll be 6 credits short because i had to keep my credits low to 1) attempt to boost GPA 2) because i want to switch majors and i can only do that w/ less than 56 credits. BLAH

yes, i'm venting and ranting. so how much do you pay?

I think it is $75-80 a semester here at UF. The bus system here is pretty good and its free for students, so I never got a decal. It's not like I could find a parking space between 8-3 every day either.

my permit is $1.00 for a whole year.

I think they just make us pay for the sticker.

No permit for me because I don't live far enough off of campus to be eligible. So parking costs me $20 everytime I get caught. Usually there is the nice yellow $20 fee under one of my windshield wipers. In general, I dont ever drive to campus since there is City Bus to bring me.

1) What ever happened to walking?

2) Why can you not park off campus if you need to unless you are a commuter.
Even if you are a commuter, can you find a parking area that is either free of cheaper.
Get moving a half hour earlier, you will be better for it.

3) When we ran out of hitching posts, the rides were turned out to pasture and had to be whistled in.

I think it's $700 a year at UBC (unless you're in residence, in which case you can get decent parking for $360).

Haven't been a college student? Having a car on campus isn't so you can get to class, it's so you can leave campus for work and leisure instead of sitting in your dorm room all day.
You can't park off campus if a township ordnance prohibits it, which many college towns do.
There is no free or cheaper parking, because the college charges the same rate to park anywhere on campus.
If your college isn't located in a city, there probably aren't any lots you can pay into.

My gripe wasn't really about the exhorbitant cost ($144/year, which isn't that bad compared to some other schools) but more the fact that for my $144, I was NOT guaranteed a spot, and I could still get a $25 ticket if a spot is unavailable and I park somewhere anyway.

For day time students its about 100+ a month. For night time it was only 30 for the quarter, but one night I forgot to put my permit in my window so they billed me $20! Also, I pay $35 for a bus pass (use it to go to work) for the quarter but they maid it to expire 2 weeks before the quarter ends so that you have to register early to get the new one which is BS. Also, I do my tuition payments online and I was "late" on one (even though there was not established schedual) so they charge me $120 dollars and I only had $600 left on the bill! My university also charged and "Engery Fee" of 3 per credit hour...which by the way is illegal and was eventually credited back. The University School system is messed up!

you wanna walk to giant, buy a cartload of groceries, and haul it back

Everywhere else is a meter, private, or just way too inconvenienced.
I also go home every so often on the weekends to do laundry among other things.

However, i've found a bike route to giant... so i just need a rack and i can carry some stuff... and i've found a bike route home... it'll just take 6hrs as opposed to 30-45minutes

48 bucks for all the parking your car can do, the bad part is most of its up hill about 1/2 mile away. But your subject to tow in most places during any sporting event or whenever they feel like being nice.

Tickets are only 10 bucks here if you pay them on time, so most people just park in 1hour spots.

$84 a semester. And there is never enough parking. I get to school at 9:15 for a 10:30 class, and I am still late to class. Parking is horrible at San Jose State.

I live about 40 minutes from school

My school is in the middle of downtown San Jose. Not much parking anywhere.

At Pitt it's just over $500/year for the spot I have, which is in the small (maybe 50 cars total) underground and heated lot directly beneath my dorm. Last year I was in the large outdoor lot (little over a half-mile walk, up one of the nice Pittsburgh hills) and that was about $480. Still, if you pay for a spot, you're guaranteed a spot. Pitt only sells as many permits as there are spots.

Not Clemson, they sell as many as people will buy, then when theres a football game we all have to move from 3 "pits" to one. (was to two but they are doing construction). Right now they have a lot more passes out then they have spots on the entire campus, then they cut the spots by a third for sports and expect everyone to be happy.
