Z87X-UD4H and 4670K stability issues

Earlier this week I upgraded my Phenom II X4 machine with a new Z87 motherboard and Haswell processor. I did a clean reinstall of windows when I did the upgrade, but I have still not yet been able to get my machine stable, even with both the CPU and GPU at complete stock. I can usually run benchmarks (AIDA64 stress test, Unigine Heaven) for over half an hour with no issues, and last night I ran 4 passes of memtest86+ with no errors. However, Dota 2 crashes back to the desktop within about 10 or 15 minutes consistently and I get BSODs about every hour or two, even just web browsing.

The BSODs have no consistency to the errors. I've gotten IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, an error with ntkrnlmp.exe, and others. I suspect it's a driver issue, but I can't tell what driver would be the problem.

I have a Swiftech H220, so it doesn't seem to be a temperature issue. I'm getting around 30 C at idle and somewhere over 50 C at load. My first mount wasn't very good, so I remounted the block, but that didn't seem to help.

I also have a Seasonic X750 power supply, so I don't think that would be causing a problem.

I've tried quite a few things already. I've reinstalled all the drivers, uninstalled all the Gigabyte utilities, updated to the newest BIOS. I submitted a tech support ticket to Gigabyte, but I don't know how long that will take to get a response.

I'm at my wits end and have no idea what else to try. Does anyone have any other suggestions before I take the motherboard back to Microcenter to get a replacement?

Memory type and voltage?
Could be a memory type that's inadequately supported by Gigabyte's current bios version.
In that case: a slight increase in memory voltage could possibly solve the problem, until a newer bios update gets released. Latest bios version is: F6c (beta):

Other than that: just obtain a stock of spare parts, and keep swapping out parts until the faulty one is isolated.

That's possible, but it's Corsair DDR3-1600 at 1.5V, so it should be supported fine. The XMP setting properly sets the speed, timings, and voltage and memtest86+ shows no memory errors.

The only relevant spare part I have is an old 8800GTS graphics card, but I'm using the same GPU as my previous build that had no issues.

I have the same board with a 4770K and no such problems as of yet. You may want to try changing the BIOS to last official F5 to see if that fixes the problem. Also check Device Manager and make sure all drivers are loaded with no yellow ! marks. All the chipset infs and drivers are included on the CD that came with the board.

Also what OS are you running? Make sure it's fully updated with all Service Packs and hot fixes.

you will want to download the latest drivers from Intel (probably linked on gigabyte's site) and update to the latest bios.

I had updated to the F5 BIOS, but that didn't help at all. I ended up updating to the beta F6c BIOS that's posted on Tweaktown and that seems to have taken care of all my issues. I'm still not sure how or why the BIOS would have been causing all the problems it did, but that seems to be the case.

Thanks for the input, everyone.

Nice, glad the beta BIOS worked out for you. I wonder if there is any change log or notes on what they changed in that BIOS.

I know EVGA motherboards have gone down a lot but times like this you can see the value in their support and focused user base. At least their info is consolidated to their forums/site, it's crazy to me we have to go to Tweaktown to find the latest BIOS info/updates lol.
